People's rudeness is so discouraging

I honestly feel sorrow for people who treat others that way. They must be truly miserable people. :confused3

I am a Corporate Procurement Manager. Basically in all aspects of my job I am the customer.

Wednesday - while on the phone with a very well known water company discussing the misallocation of our funds (their mistake) the AR CLERK I was speaking to called me...... STUPID! :furious: She then elaborated and said "You people over there are so dumb"

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? I called my AP Manager and SHE called the company to try and straighten them out since it was in fact THEIR mistake and SHE was spoken to rudely as well. When MY AP Manager told the Water Company that we were going to pull our business they said "No you won't"

I pulled it that very day - WTH????? Since WHEN it is acceptable to be rude to a customer who YOU are the one that made the mistake and WHO thinks it's ok to call a Customer stupid? :confused3 :confused3

I just don't by into that! The customer is usually in the wrong.

"The customer is always right" isn't a "fact" it's a service oriented phrase. Many companies believe that regardless of who is right - the customer will be TREATED as if they were right.

while the "social worker" is up for major verbal abuse for "taking kids", that can pale to what myself and others endured on the elgibility side of the house when that irate "parent" (and i use the term loosly) received notice with OUR NAME on it that their welfare grant and food stamps were being cut or discontinued due to the child's removal. a crack addicted person with a pre-disposition to violence does not kindly take the news that their "paycheck" (their phrase, not mine/ours) has stopped. i soooo enjoyed hearing things like "i hope your kids got a good look at you this morning, but if not don't worry-they can stand next to your casket for as long as they want" :sad2: it got to the point where we got sick of our employer not backing us up-so we just called the police on our own to press charges.

working with "the public" is nothing i'de hope my kids would ever pursue.

You would love my friend. She was ordering pizza for lunch today and when they answered she said "Hi Sally, my name is Suzi. How are you today? That's great. I'd like to order a pizza please." She's the nicest person in the world. That's how she talks to everybody. When I call to order pizza I just say "I'd like to order a pizza please". I guess we could all take some lessons huh? :rolleyes1

Mean people suck. Plain and simple. But what can you do? Just keep on smiling and grin and bare it- that is your revenge to these mean people.

::yes:: :sad2:

Someone said this to one of our customer service people:

"I hope your Christmas Tree catches on fire and burns your house down"!
:sad2: :scared1:

I know it's not supposed to be funny, but I laughed out loud at the comment. If someone said this to me, I'd likely just laugh. I'd have a hard time taking a remark like that seriously. :p

I worked in customer service years ago for a life & cancer insurance company. That was the toughest job I ever had. Trying to explain why your life insurance will not pay for your child who committed suicide or why you only received $100 for a $1,000 claim. It really depended on the policy they took out but it was so depressing....... :sad:

My call center was for life/cancer/disability/supplemental health insurance. I know where you're coming from. Some of the worst calls involved telling pregnant mothers that their disability insurance would not cover them because they got pregnant too soon after taking out the policy.

I use to work in customer service. The callers could be so rude. I had one caller ask me if I could read. She then basically insinuated that since were in the south we were all stupid. One caller once told me that I was an ignorant know it all yankee. With my drawl! I always make sure that I treat customer service reps as I would want to be treated. And I make sure that the supervisor knows that the person did a great job!
