People who always turn the conversation to themselves

Doesn't this drive you crazy. My DH called his brother last night to ask him a question. My BIL droned on for a long time. My DH who is not a talkative guy wanted to tell him about the most fascinating person that he met. He barely got out anything about this person and my BIL turned the conversation around to his kids and what they were doing (the usual, they're so smart and so talented blah, blah, blah....). He never asked how our kids were doing or even let my DH finish his conversation.

I brought this up to my DH and he just shruged and said, he does like the sound of his own voice!

Does this drive anyone else nuts?

This happens to me all the time! It is so annoying (and rude). I am trying to learn how to "but-in" so I can say what I wanted to.

My good friend's wife is like this. She will actually ask you a question and then just talk over you about HER stuff....everything is about HER family. I don't k now why I bother speaking at all.

OMG yes I do......my exmil!!!!!! How ironic that this is brought up since I just emailed a lawyer some info about how everything is always about her and she doesn't give a hoot about anyone else....especially when you are trying to point out how she's been to others....OMG!!!! Too funny.

ABsolutely - my former SIL!!

Drove me nuts. No matter what you asked she always seem to bring the conversation around to herself and the kids. She also had to one up you, constantly. My DS got an A-, her's got an A+ - it got so bad I now call to speak with my niece and nephew when I know she isn't there.

I work with somone like that, it is very annoying. She likes to "one up" everyone too. If you have a headache, she thinks she has a brain tumor, if you have a cold, she is coming down with pneumonia. It is amazing how fast she can turn the conversation around to focus on her.

She LOVES to talk about herself, but, when you talk about whats going on in your life, she changes the subject, to talk about...HERSELF again! I just avoid having too much conversation with her.
