People Turned Away

We are going to WDW Jan11-18th and just last week I decided to call to see if I could change one or 2 ADR's around. Felt like going to eat at Chef Mickey's.....I guess it won't be happening this trip! Booked solid on that day!

Got 1900 PF dinner instead, but would've really enjoyed seeing Mickey and twirling my napkin.

The new disney dining plan is what is making this so darn hard. People who never used to bother with a real sit down restaurant are now taking up seating that used to be readily available.

My only hope is that people with ADRs are really using their times well....sometimes people book a time and arrive really late not counting on just how long it can take you get from place to place.

We are going January 11-19 and I just made my ADR yesterday. I had no problem with any of them and was able to get my choice of times each day.

Hmmm...I was feeling pretty good about my decision to make my ADR's only for Dec 30-Jan. 5 (Party of 12). I was going to fly by the seat of my pants for Jan. 6-14 for the most part. (And that with a party of 9) I know where we're going to be for those first early days but I have no clue where we will feel like being for ALL the nights of such a long vacation. I was hoping to go to guest services at my resort each morning and make a dinner ADR then for that night. I was under the impression that with the exception of the marathon weekend WDW was going to be pretty dead while we're there. The only thing I can even think of to do is make a lot of evening ADR's at EPCOT since that's where we tend to go during the evenings in slow season when the other parks close early. What do you all think? Do you think I was correct in my original thinking that I could go to guest services each morning?

I was also hoping to have a couple of signature dinners spontaniously with DH. I didn't want to plan them. Just find a good night and go.

It just seems like too long a vacation to microplan every second of it. I really want to be a bit spontanious...

I think it's tough to get tables for parties larger than 4 (unless you are willing to split up). Personally I'd make the ADRs so you have something you know you can do but then the day of you can see if something preferable is available. If you are willing to split or eat very early or late it probably doesn't matter as much but we are fairly picky about where and when so I've made ADRs each day just to be safe.

Yvonne

At this point I would not go to WDW without at least 1-2 Adr's per day. I have a friend going in early Feb...who won't listen to me, and I hope she will not be turned away with her family.

Aren't we all glad we are computer literate enough to find this web site so we don't look and feel like doofs when we get to WDW?

Isn't that the truth!

DH about died laughing because "OMG! There is actually a discussion board about planning a WDW trip!" I will have to post when he thanks me for the obsessive planning I have done! LOL!

I'm one of those who has at least one ADR for every day...usually dinner. Well, my dh just told me that we 'might' be going to WDW during Feb vacation. But he won't know until just before CHristmas. It's a company thing and it came up pretty last minute. So, here I sit, waiting for the definitive word from him as to what is happening...watching the airfare go higher and higher. But the thing that gets me the most is the dining. I just know that by the time he gets the final word from work that we are going, everything will be booked. I'll be existing on chicken strips at counter service spots!!! Don't they realize that people have to plan these things when they go to WDW!!!??

Don't fret, two months out there will still be lots available, though you might get to try some things you wouldn't have chosen if you had your choice of any restaurant. Sometimes, you find real gems this way. Marrakesh is one of those that a lot of people would never had tried if the reservation wasn't "easy" - and its one of a lot of people's favorite restaurants!

yes this does happen
this is why we are renting a car we werent gonna but DH finally agreed that just in case we should
the buses will probably we crazy and with the baby i would rather have it
plus we are on the dining plan and are eating at lots of places the buses would be a pain to take to

It is true that you could call in the morning and find a table someplace. I called in the morning and was able to find dining times. The problem I saw what that people were arriving at 5:30 and wanting to eat right then and were shocked that they couldn't. Even though Dec is slow, I would rather know I have a table that wish I had one.

I tried that on our trip during the first week of December, and everything was booked up. I was able to get a walk up at Whispering Canyon, but that was only because we camped out for about 15 minutes before they opened for dinner.

Why don't you just go ahead and make some ADRs just in case? You don't have to have a ressie at a Disney resort to make them. When they ask you where you're staying, just tell them you don't know yet. If the trip doesn't happen, you can call and cancel them.

Doesn't CRT sell out within minutes every day, 90 days ahead? I have never tried to make a res for it because of that.

We were at EPCOT first part of Nov. I called while in the park to make an ADR for Germany. No luck until 9:30. This was at 5:00. Walked over there and got right in.
