people think I'm crazy

I get the same reaction from my wife... "What, you want to go back there again, we were just there..." I'm a DVC member, long before we met so I end up going for long weekends to WDW...

So, I'm not telling her I am planning about 5 WDW long weekend in 2012 and 1 DL long weekend until I'm good and ready to tell her... So glad we are driving distance to WDW...

Though, I've never been to Disneyland, my family and I get this response a lot regarding WDW. My parents LOVE WDW and went there at least a dozen times as a couple pre-kids-- they even spent their honeymoon there! ;)
Throughout my childhood, we went A LOT. We lost count, but I've been somewhere between 20 and 30 trips, and I'm only 22 (not to mention we live in Illinois!). Now that I'm older, it is one of my life's dreams to visit every Disney theme park in the world, and a lot of people tell me "Why bother? You've already been to WDW? It's all the same anyhow."

For me, WDW is where some of my greatest family memories are. My family is pretty dysfunctional, but at WDW were always in-sync and at our peak. I know this is part of the reason we went so much-- at WDW we were the family my mom had always hoped for. Maybe it was the Disney magic.

People will always judge how you raise your family, discipline your family, spend money, vacation, etc. It's hard to hear, but you have to decide whether their critique is relevant to your life or not, and then move on. Some of what they're saying likely comes from a place of love (ex: my partner used to complain about how often my family went to WDW because he thought we should have been spending money renovating my parents house). At the end of the day, it's up to you and your family to decide what works for you. :goodvibes

People don't understand "us" but "we" don't understand them either. My friend just flew to Tallahassee to see Oklahoma play FSU. In two days, he spent nearly what I am spending for a week with my family at DL. I am sure he thinks I am nuts spending the kind of money I am to go to an amusement park for a week that he hates while I think it is just as nuts to spend what he did to go see a college football game for 4 hours. We are friends because we don't tell each other that our fanaticism is "nuts."

Everyone has their "thing." You would be foolish to find something you love (wife, kids, golf, football, Disney, camping, etc) and then not enjoy and appreciate those things simply because you have been there, done that. The same people that criticize us for going to DL have their own "thing" that I probably don't get.

Well...to be fair...that IS crazy...cause Tallahassee is a dump! ;)

GO GATORS! :cheer2:

This pretty much sums up everything perfectly with a nice little bow. :thumbsup2

My family always gets this. We went in Febuary to DL and when we went to go in April for spring break to WDW everyone said "werent you just there?!!"
UHM HI that was two months ago......:lmao:

Or I get the response of "i've never been there..."
Well sorry.

I think its all pure jealousy. Dont second guess your trip. Go and have a great time! :goodvibes
