What did you think of it overall?

Please also write in, was it really nice to be close to DTD? Did you go there all the time or too much work to get there?

I loved it!!! It took 4 min. to walk to Downtown Disney. The first time we took the boat there and the bus back because it was dark and we didn't know where the path was. After that we found out it took less time to walk there than to walk to the bus stop. We went 4 times on our last trip.

We loved it too. We walked to DD at least twice--it took only 12 minutes door-to-door.

We probably would have walked more but our stay was in December and it was c-c-c-cold more often than not. It's also very easy to drive if you have a car.

Love SSR! We went to DD almost every night, stayed 6 nts in beginning of Dec. We have two little kids and they fell in love with the train ride at DD so had to go visit the "choo choo train" daily  We stayed at the congress park GV and it was less than 5 min walk to DD!!! Since we are shoppers and eaters, it's the best location for us. Only bad thing is that you are so close to DD that you probably spend more money on souvenirs and snacks than if you were elsewhere. :)

We were there opening weekend almost a year ago. We liked it a lot, the view of DTD at night was beautiful.

We were unable to walk to DTD at that time, the path wasn't open yet, but my wife and daughter took the boat over a couple times. The boat ride was a treat so we didn't care about not being able to walk.

And we loved it! We walked to DD which was easier than driving because parking there is the pits! We faced DD also and the view was wonderful! We loved eating breakfast at Artist's Palette, too. It was empty and the food was very good. We were close to the quiet pool but it was too cold for us to go swimming.

We have said that we wanted to try all of the DVC resorts and after staying at SSR we were really torn when we change our ressies to BWV for our next trip. We would have no problem staying at SSR again.

We only stayed a night at SSR before our GG in December. However, people met us in our studio, and we walked to DTD and it was an easy walk, very pretty. The Christmas decorations and entertainment were worth the walk, we had a great time, and would stay at SSR again.

We love SSR and being able to walk to DTD. We have 5 children 2-9 and there are so many fun free or low cost things to do at DTD. The lego store, the water fountains, watching the Rainforest cafe bird show. Ending the night with Ghiradelli Ice Cream was also a special treat.

My DW and I were there for a "romantic evening", just the 2 of us :lovestruc , in February.

It was wonderful for this purpose. Couples massage at the spa. Great stroll into DTD, shopping, movie....overall a top notch experience.

That said, for a longer trip with my kids, I do not believe we will be going back too soon (although the pools are very nice). We enjoy being closer to the things we will be doing most. BWV is perfect for us (although, admittedly, we are concidering staying at VWL this time).

SSR is another wonderful option for all of us in DVC to take advantage of!

We have stayed there twice and have another vacation planned there for late June. We think it's great. The walk from the Congress Park buildings is very easy. 10 minutes or so. Maybe less. It will be longer from the other areas as SSR is built to completion. Looking across the water at DTD all lit up is really a nice sight!

We were only there for a couple of nights and only in a studio, but we thought it was well appointed and very quiet.

Absolutely LOVED it. Being that close to DTD is a big plus for us! Gives us someplace to stroll in the early evenings. Lots of hustle and bustle and great theming all around. I thought the walking distances between certain places (ie: Food, Pools, DTD, etc) would be horrible after reading some of the reviews, but a 10 minute walk is absolutely nothing compared how far you walk on a typical day in the parks. Walking is good for you anyways. ;)
Can't wait to stay there again; but we gotta try the other resorts first just so we know what we're not missing. :rotfl2:

Went once a year ago (SSR Founders Day - Member Homecoming) with a Studio and last December witha 2BR (brought another couple) and we loved it both times. In addition to the wonderful aspects that others have pointed out, SSR has two qualities that work for us. First, we make trips to Las Vegas at least 2 times a year and we get a little "been there done that" about hotels with "everything under one roof". So the fact that SSR is like a small community - with lodging separate from entertainment and dining - is a welcome change for us. Also, we always rent a car, and usually go offsite at least once a day, so there's nothing like being 30 seconds away from the edge of WDW for making grocery runs, picking up fast food, eating out or going to a (heresy) non-Disney attraction.

We'll be there in (what it says down there) days, and I'm hoping for a room in The Springs, just to try it out.

Oops, forgot to add: We walked to DTD several times each trip. We're beyond the "gotta be in a park every second" phase, and there's nothing like a nice evening walk from SSR to DTD with your sweetie, hand-in-hand as you walk along the water. I guess that's what a lot of people feel about WS at Epcot....

Be well!
