I live in NY close to the city and Hurricane Irene is coming tomorrow night! I'm so scared! Were stocking up on everything. Food, water, candles, you name it. I've never been through a hurricane and 80-100 mph winds with trees around your house does NOT sound fun or safe. I hope the damage isn't bad!
Anyway, what I wanted to say was that I hope all of you on the east coast stay safe! Or if it already hit you, I hope you and your families are okay. You'll be in my prayers!

Thanks! I hope everyone is safe too. I live in Boston and tonight it is supposed to be bad until tomorrow night! I am sooo nervous! Massachusetts hasnt had a hurricane this intense with that high of winds mph! Everyone Stay Safe!:)

I live in Texas, right by the Gulf of Mexico. Most hurricanes turn at the last minute and head staright for us. We were prepareed. I've lived through about 25 hurricanes. You're right. Their not very fun...but when they're over, you can say that you did it! :goodvibes ANd...to take my mind off of what's going on inside, I try to have fun inside. Yuo always want to stay away from your windown because they could shatter (even if they're boarded up) at any time. So...we always sleep in sleeping bag sin the hall. haha. its actually kinda fun. we thenn turn on lamps and candles and stuff and play cards and board games all night. then when you wanna go to sleep. POOF! Blow out the candle and you have a pitch dark room. Even if it's the middle of the day!! I also make sure that I have lots of pencils and paper. Because...for me anyways...I love to draw what comes to mind. In all the storms, I try to draw what I think outside will look like when it is over. Its kinda depressing, but it'll give you something to do!! :goodvibes I'm praying for all of y'all! May God bless...

im in VA, and my neighbors tree fell over a while ago, but other then that nothing too bad has really happened. im hoping we don't lose power until tonight

Oh thats terrible :(
My prayers go out to his family tonight.

yea, the pictures were so awful ): the boy's mother made it, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. :sad1: and another man got killed by a falling tree branch. im scared though, the winds are getting a lot stronger near me :O

I live in SC and we live about 4 hours away from the coast so we didn't having anything from Irene, but maybe a stronger than normal breeze. I hope everyone is okay!

Guys, I SURVIVED!
I heard about the 11 year old dying! A 4 year old died too. That's just so terrible :'(
I live in the middle of my island so it higher up and we weren't flooded, but the rain did flood my basement. Other streets on our island were flooded though and some trees did fall down cause the wind was so strong, but my block did not lose power!

in florida, we got a few rain bands but nothing much. no one here was worried. mainly bc we deal with hurricanes more than any other natural disaster storms. i figure its what we are equipped for. like here nothing really puts people on edge until its a category three (which i think irene was for a day or two) and even then all we do is stock up and take precautions.

kinda like cali is with earthquakes. like where the quake hit the east coast ppl from cali made fun of us for worrying :p hahaha.

We only had strong wind & rain for a while but we only lost power for about a minute. My family ended up watching a Doctor Who marathon. :)

I'm glad everyone is okay! There is a lot of flooding in areas around me, but where I live it isn't bad at all.
