When my family & I were at WDW, the one thing we notice some people do a lot is not stoping when your about to take a picture. Not everyone was like this because there were some nice people that saw we were trying to take pictures & waited until we were done. However a couple of times I said to the people after walking by, "you know were trying to take a picture here". I try to let things upset me while at WDW, but you think today people would have more common sence. Whenever we see others taking pictures we always wait until they are done. Anyway thanks for letting me rant about this & just curious what do you all think about this topic?

If I notice that someone is taking a picture, I'll stop and allow it to happen. In some cases, I'll even take the picture for them such that everyone can be in the picture and nobody is left out.

However, when they're holding up an entire artery/thoroughfare to take a picture from about 20+ feet away and expect everyone to stop for them, then I consider that to be a little ridiculous. Just my $0.02.

I completely agree.

Yep yep - well said notnothin. When you block a path to take a pic, you need to remember that YOU are in THEIR way, not the other way around. Be appreciative of those that do stop for you to get your pic, and don't forget that a lot of people simply don't see that someone's trying to take a picture. WDW is full of a lot of visual stimulation - most people aren't paying close attention to why folks are just standing around as they pass.

We've noticed the same thing -some people will just walk right in front of you but then there are others who do have the courtesy to stop until you've snapped your picture. Do have to agree with notnothin - you can't expect people to walk around you when you're taking pictures from a distance.

I see your point, but some people just take WAY too long to take a picture. Seriously, there are a lot of people at WDW. A lot of people who take pictures will spend a long time finding the "perfect" position for a picture and then take more than one. Many times people block walkways when taking pictures. When we take pix, we take it as quick as possible.

Sometimes people, like myself, may not realize you are taking a picture. If I am looking at something or talking to my DS or DH, I may not notice someone taking a picture until it is too late.

For the record I never said anything about taking pictures from 20 or more feet away. Here is an example of some people walking right in front of a picture we are about to take. You know the Mickey & Minnie & the Donald & Daisy figures at Disney's Pin Traders, where a lot of people take pictures at? Well when we take pictures there it's right up close & yet some people still walk right in front of the shot, where it's clear that we are taking a picture. So there are some times when the people walking in front of the people trying to take the picture are wrong & you can't say this was from 20 or more feet away & say the people taking the pictures are holding up others. Did you ever think people would not take so long to take pictures, if others would not walk in front of people? So you can say it's 50/50 when saying who is wrong in this situation.

What got me was at the character interactions--I'm sorry but if I stood in line to have a picture with a character please don't walk up into MY picture---So many times we'd be ready to take a picture and all of a sudden someone I don't know is standing there in the way----OR they would just walk right thru usually just as I snapped the picture so I'd have to do it again

Walkways I can understand about people outside of your group getting in the way---But character interactions---Come on!!

As for me I will stop and wait for someone to take their picture--I'm not in that much of a rush that I lost my manners!

I have been guilty of this many times, and I always try to apologize when I recognize that it happened.

Sure, it happens. It's happened to me before, I've (inadvertantly) done it to others before, it will likely happen again. I don't think that most people do it on purpose, though. I know I don't, at least.

Try not to be so defensive towards responses when you post. When you ask for opinions on a message board, you will get them. The 20+ foot statement was just an example which I imagine many that visit WDW can relate to. It wasn't accusing you of doing so. :confused3

Jey, I do the same thing....I try very hard to courteous when someone is taking a picture, but sometimes I may not realize someone is taking a photo....Especially if it is crowded and I am just trying to maneuver my family out of the way....

We also try to be respectful of others taking pics around the parks b/c we certainly want that in return but at our last visit in May I noticed a lot of people took way too long to set up for a shot of they were kind of set and then one of the kids ran off, etc. and yes at that point we would walk (very quickly) to get past them. We've gotten plenty of pics with people walking in front of us (even with the photopass people) probably in situations similar to yours b/c people were either in a hurry or honestly didn't realize what we were doing. All I have to say is thank goodness for digital cameras!

Sorry if I came off as a little defensive. I was just trying to prove my point & was a little surprised how your 1st response was because, I did not mention things the way you did.

I have seen this.

I try to stop others from doing it too.

What gets me very mad is the person who sees you taking a pic, crouches down and walk in front of you anyways...Like he won't be in the pic if he hunches over...I HATE THAT :furious:

No problem, I can understand the frustration when you are take a picture only to have it ruined by someone stepping into the photo. As another poster mentioned, thank goodness for digital cameras! :thumbsup2

I'd like to apologize in advance for anyone who had a big blonde German looking dude in their pictures, that would be DH. He doesn't do it on purpose, he is totally engulfed in the magic and is oblivious to everything. Sometimes you can't even tell a person is taking a picture until it's too late.

I agree 100%. My Dad finally got a digital camera & it was great seeing the pictures while at WDW that we liked & being able to delete the ones we did not like.

ONe bad spot is at the central hub at the mickey and walt statue. I just stoped waiting because if you stop and wait, you'll never get through.

Hmm. I never thought of it that way before! That makes sense though. I have to agree with you and notnothin. I've never seen anyone cross someone's picture-path on purpose. I know I've accidentally done it before - there's just so much to look at when you're at Disney World!
