People mover refurb announced!

I enjoy the TTA, but it really does need a refurb. It's super dirty, the paint is looking old, and I hope they change out some of the displays.

Summer or winter, it's always busy and somebody will complain about it being down.

I know one ride doesn't make a Disney trip, but the PeopleMover was a tradition for DS and me. He's pretty upset that we won't get to ride. And when DD finds out AO will be closed, she'll be heartbroken too. And while I understand the need for rehabs and downtime for the attractions, I don't understand why Disney would decide to move that to peak summer crowds - especially with the lines already reportedly being longer due to FP+ (or not - not trying to start a debate about that).

Not trying to be snarky, but what time during the year would a closure for 4 months be a good thing?

Fewer folk in the non peak seasons are affected and that is the point that is being made here.

None, of course, but some times are worse than others and considering the number of guests it can take, it has a far bigger impact being down in a busy season such as summer/Christmas/Easter etc than it would in, say early Fall.

Nooooooo! Well drats. That is a tradition for us -it's our quiet time. And DN14 is going with us this year for her first-ever trip and I hate she will miss it. :(

August - November.
March - June.

Beginning of August is still busy and end of November brings Thanksgiving. Also, the end of Oct. is now a very highly traveled time. Remember all those "It's so crowded" reports?

March through June would include college spring breaks as well as Easter breaks. Ouch, those are some of the busiest times of the year for WDW, even busier than summer months. And of course by June the parks are at summer capacity.

I'm just pointing out there is no good time for a refurb, but they must be done. I'm all for them taking rides down for upkeep and upgrades. I feel they are being stingy if they don't take them down.

Plus, on the positive side, if Disney is refurbing the TTA that means it's going to be sticking around for a while. It was getting so run down looking I was afraid they were going to get rid of it.

Now if they would just refurb the CoP.

I wasn't sure of the rules for posting the links, sorry.

All is good. If it isn't an allowable site here on the Dis then the link will show up something like this:

*****FP+sucks****.com

If it shows up with a bunch of ******** then delete it.:)

Annoying. I love to ride that when we need a break. It's great when the park is crowded and hot.

Boy I hope not. Look what happened to Pirates!!!

Please no. Nooooooo....

Well they already changed the voices and covered a lot of the tunnel with plywood painted black. How much worse could it get? I'm hoping for something good, especially changing some of the displays. Wish we could get the old soundtrack back though. That was à classic.

But I do sympathize with all the posters. We usually have a few closed while we're there and it sux.

We just got back from Disneyland and Splash, Big Thunder and Small World were all down at the same time during our stay. That was two attractions I got screwed out of FP- on. :)

Well, I'm really disappointed. Couldn't care much less about Astro Orbitor, but hate that the people mover will be down while we're there. No matter how many times we've ridden it, we never miss doing that at least once and often more than once.
That's a very long time for something to be down. And it bothers me that they didn't do it when scheduled.
We also arrive May 3rd.
Rats.

You always use such great illustrations. :rotfl:

March-June is spring break crowds...There really is never a good time to refurb a ride IMO, but it has to be done :confused3

If you guys want to appreciate the refurb schedule at WDW, take a look at the one this spring and summer at DLR. It will curl your toes.
