People mover refurb announced!

People mover is closed from May 3 to July 1 for a refurbishment.

Astro orbitor is closed May 3 thought August 20.

I'm curious to see what they'll do??

I'd say it will just be a refurbishment of the "train cars". On our last trip, we noticed that quite a few of them were out of commission with cones placed in them, and then ones that we were able to get on were beat up a bit, with foam stuffing coming out of the padded parts and such.

Some sprucing up would be nice.

Allears is wrong. The PeopleMover is currently open. The ride did not go down for refurb as originally scheduled. Disney pushed the date back to correspond with the start of the Astro Orbiter refurb.

Yes, I noticed they start at the same time! But Astro Orbiter is scheduled for longer.

Any idea what they are doing for that ride? I've never been on it!

Well that stinks. Thanks for passing along the info. When my son was too short for Space Mountain he used to call the TTA "my space mountain" since he could still see what it was like inside. We have a love for it because of that . I guess we have to miss it this trip.

You're welcome. I would be bummed too. I'm waiting for one of my favorites to be closed when I go in October, I have that kind of luck. Sorry October people!

Arriving 5/3 you'll miss the PeopleMover, but you should be able to ride the Mine Train. So it to isn't all bad.

well that is a big bummer - my favorite non-E-ticket ride and would have been my DD7's first time - a perfect ride for her too. Darn!!!

aww man - people mover will be down while were there in May... but the new mine train should be up and going. Still, I was hoping to ride to get some pics taken. I remember riding it when I was kid while my sister was riding space mountain (had a bad experience with coasters when I was younger but I love them now). Guess we'll just have to go back in the fall.. =)
