People Mover isn't continuous loading anymore??

We've been on it 3 times in the last month, and each time a CM has only allowed a handful of people on the moving ramp at a time. None additional were allowed until the ramp was completely clear, resulting in a long queue that spilled out onto the walkway.

In the past it never seemed like allowing a continuous stream of guests onto the ramp was a problem. Just curious if there was some kind of a incident recently that resulted in the change?

it's usually because people slow the works up and people would pile up at the top with no where to go. They put gaps in to prevent it.

Yes they were doing this when we were just there this weekend. I don't know why. Seems like they're not able to load the cars as fast? Resulting in the line backing up to the escalator. If the line backs up they have to stop the escalator. :/ I don't know but I noticed this too.

I've noticed this before. If you have too many people on the ramp and they have to stop it at the front of the line (for example, a handicapped person), it could end up with people on the ramp having nowhere to go and piling up.

We experienced this.

But what is weird is I don't remember the queue upstairs (snaking like corral)?

Also--they wait for the entire platform to empty AND then wait for several empty cars to pass before letting more folks on.

Makes no sense when gaps don't need to be that big. If the platform and ramp are empty--why the additional wait before resuming the line up the ramp?

Yes, because if the ride were to stop for any reason, the up and down ramps don't stop, with a full up ramp, it would push people into each other with no where to go.

Or you could roll your eyes at the CM when you ask them that and they explain it to you and you say "ok whatever" when he or she is DOING THEIR JOB

The original queue was always a safety issue if it gets busy, I am surprised they havent done this earlier. It wont really slow your wait down, just will make it safer.

Ladt time we were on it in oct. It broke while we were in spacemountain. Waited bout 15 min. And was walked off the ride, very interesting.

The safety issue makes sense - I was just curious if there was a significant incident that triggered the change. We had never seen it handled this way before. If they are going to keep doing this it would probably help to set up an actual queue area.

As a side note, one of the times we were on it last week they stopped the escalator while we were still on it - it was kinda jarring.....

Interesting. In all the times I've visited, at all times of the year, I have always walked on this ride. FP+ must be creating a queue even for the People Mover....wow!

I personally think it is. Picture taken last week:

That boggles my mind, Laketravis!

I think there's a whole new world in store for me on my next, post FP+ visit.:(

I don't like the new way of loading. They also *force* too many people to go in one car. We had 5 full size adults and they made us squeeze in one car. We said there is not enough room. The CM said "you can fit," and motioned for us to continue loading. I again said, I don't think it will work, but she ignored me. I actually squatted on the ground in the center between the two seats, because we COULD NOT fit!!! I usually enjoy this attraction, but that made it very unenjoyable.

I would (respectfully :)) disagree that FP+ is the issue - We go 2-3 times a week (including over a 6 week period this Summer) and we never experienced lines until they stopped continuous loading

I walked right on 3 times about 4 weeks ago. Never a wait and this was on Veteran's Day when the park was packed solid.

Maybe because it's a busy time of year? I don't know. I'm pretty sure it was continuous in September.

I've never seen the people mover with a line backed up. We've gone dozens of times but admittedly not since the new Fastpass + system has been up and running
