We will be going to Disney in October and I’m assuming my son will qualify for the DAS pass (he has quite severe autism). We are going with a group of 10 people and 2 of the adults asked if they could go on the rides with me and my son so they could benefit from the DAS pass. How would that work? They are not linked to my account in any way. They are not immediate family. Are we allowed to link friends?

Thanks for the help!

You can link anyone you like as friends in MDE. Three people will be able to accompany your son via a DAS pass. Sometimes you can have more people added and then choose up to 3 of the people on the list for each return time.

Honestly? That seems kind of bold IMO. The DAS is not designed to benefit them.

If/when your son qualifies, I would just tell those adults, immediately family only to a max. of four people. You may be told that anyways. They can ride with the rest of the 10. Sheesh. Nervy people.

You can link multiple people to your MDE but Disney will limit how many people can utilize the DAS with the person needing the accommodation.

As a parent of someone that qualifies for DAS I always ask myself does my child feel comfortable with these people that are linked to MDE that he/she could go on the ride with them if I was not able to ride at that time.

I wouldn't count or take for granted that you will be accepted for DAS as accommodations. My nephew was denied and he also has severe autism.

It almost seems as though it is just as much about who you get for a CM, as others with similar issues to my nephew were granted it. My sister is pretty good at advocating for her son, so it was not just a lack of explaining thoroughly. A medical advisor CM told her they would not qualify, but that the option of having one person wait in line while mom/dad waits with nephew outside of the queue would be an acceptable alternative.

How many are your immediate family? That will be who is included on the DAS. If you want to include others, they first need to be linked as Friends & Family. But you will still be limited to a max of 4 (DAS-holder + 3) for each attraction. But as others said, I would only do that to benefit your son not for convenience of others.

I agree.
If he is approved, you may or may not be able to link other people who are in your Friends & Family to DAS. That would be up to the CM doing the registration.
In any case, if they are linked, you would be limited to 4 total for each attraction

Do not assume he will qualify.

You'll need your friends to be in your friends and family list.

If he qualifies you will tell them the other people's names and they will select them.

They have been quite strict about 4 people especially if there are multiple adults in the group.

NOPE. And not because Disney might say no, you say no for the sake of your son and yourself. IF you get a DAS- how are the others in this group going to feel when they find out you favored these two while the rest have to pay for LLs and stand in lines? How are these two going to feel when you son melts down and can’t/wont do major rides or even if he has to leave the park for the day? This situation is WAY too full of pitfalls that will take your attention away from experiencing the joy of your trip and the moments with your DS. If you get DAS tell these 2 Disney said immediate family only. If they push back say sorry that’s what they said and stop the conversation there. Do not feel guilty about this. They never should have asked in the first place.

This is really disappointing. Families spend thousands of dollars to go to Disney parks and then in this situation, they spend a majority of time apart. I remember going to Disneyland years ago with a friend who had an AP. I had a 3 day parkhopper and back then, it included one "magic morning". When getting information at the kiosk in the esplanade area, the CM said they'd allow my friend in early as well since Disney "doesn't want to split up families". Times have definitely changed.

This is to the ones who truly abuse DAS and the ones who are making and posting videos on social media sites encouraging those to lie, cheat, and abuse the system. They already know who they are.

To be honest, the people who truly abuse the DAS (they know who they are) need to be permanently banned from all of Disney and arrested and charged with fraud and forgery. Also, if I was a supervisor and one of my employees did that, they would be immediately fired and terminated from their job especially because they cannot be trusted. If it is university students abusing it, they should be expelled from the college or university and their financial aird and scholarships should be retracted and revoked. I understand lightning lane and genie plus is expensive and I with they kept the Fastpass+, but this is definitely no excuse at all to and is never right to abuse DAS and to be dishonest and lie and doing so is a breach of integrity. It is a whole lot better to do the right thing and either wait in the standby line or purchase Genie Plus and Lightning Lane if you truly and legitimate do not need DAS. The ones who made the video and posted it on social media encouraging others to abuse DAS and such behavior also should be banned as well too from all of Disney and other theme parks. These dishonest and selfish criminals make it a lot more difficult for those who genuinely and truly need this service.
