I have booked 2 rooms at All Stars... it will be me, DH, DD, and DS. My question is that my 85 year old father MAY go with us...he has gone the past several years...but this time he doesn't want to commit until closer to time (which is over 6 months away.)
So at what point would I need to add his name to who is staying in the rooms?
A month out? A week out? Just show up with him with us?
Note: We never get dining plan ..we always pay OOP. and pay for tickets separate from the rooms.

If you have a room only reservation and the children are both under 18, there is no reason not to add him now. He would be in one room with one child, you are 2 are in the other room with one child. You are within the room limits for people and there is no charge for adding him. If he does not go, then no big deal, you can tell them before you go.
If the children are over 18, then there would be a charge for an extra adult in one of the rooms and then you would need to decide what to do. I think with a room only reservation you can make the changes almost any time.

On a trip last year, a friend was joining me on the third day of a five day trip. I did not add him to the reservation until I was already in WDW and it was not a problem. You have plenty of time to add your father to the reservation.

You can just add him when you get there. My daughter sometimes takes a friend but we usually don't know until the night before.

I'd either add him when you get there or the moment he says "yes, I am definitely going". As stated, it's not going to cost you any more. It's more for a fire issue so they know how many people are in each room.
