People Arguing about WDW with you!!

I went in Jan 2000. My day at the MK I used my old (94) pass. All the FP machines had Cast Members explaining to guests how the system worked. I'd show my pass and the CM would hit a button in back to dispense a FP (which meant I was able to get different FP tickets for the same time period).

Interesting Mike. Are AP's the credit card type as well? It would say they must be, because the FP podiums didn't have CM's there other than to explain.

AP's are the styrene paper cards with a magnetic strip. Same shape as the 'Credit Cards', and fit in the fast pass machines :flower:

Ah ha! Very good. Thanks to you both for clearing up that personal mystery! :sunny:

We're going on this trip with my girlfriend and her family. I've done all the trip planning as well as booking tickets for rooms flights and passes. I've done my research and then my girlfriend said she had a couple of questions...I said shoot I could probably answer them b/c of my experience in the parks and from all the DIS info I've gathered. She was hesitant and thought maybe we should consult the website. I said you're welcome to do it but I'll probably answer your questions faster.

Then she said well they are kind of obscure questions....oh puhlease, give already I was thinking  I said if I don't have the answer I can get it fairly quickly.

Well she asked her questions, hmph they weren't even that hard :rotfl2: so easy for me to answer then she was stunned I knew so much...Uh Duh!!!!! What do you people think I do with all my free time? Watch Oprah. No, I DIS!!

She will never really know how awesome her trip really is, getting all fruits of my labour. We are soooooo going to enjoy our trip in 2 teeny, tiny days.

I had a co-worker try and "impress me" with all he knew of the Resorts! He tried to tell me he wanted to stay at "Wilderness Kingdom Lodge." :earseek: I said: "You mean, Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge?" :confused3 He said: "The one that has the Animals out side the room." ;) Oh, Okay, and proceded to tell him the prices....yes I have the ROOM PRICES MEMORIZED!!

one thing that I have learned---to turn the cheek the other way---people do not seem to appreaciate your info :ssst: so I practice the do not advise sysndrome-----

I have learned I only share my info and knowledge on the DIS---much lesser headaches and brawls!!

A friend from church is going to WDW next weekend, so the last time I saw her she was asking me about some tips. While I was explaining my personal how to tour MK with small children plan to her, I mentioned getting a fast pass for either Peter pan or Pooh and then riding the other one. Another woman chimes in, "Oh, but you have to be staying in a WDW resort to use that." I said, "Nope. It is for everyone." She asks when was the last time I was there and I told her last March. "WELL," she says, "They USED to be for only resort guests." So, I of course must ask her when she stayed there. Three years ago. Uhuh. "I was there three times that year. Never stayed onsite, used Fast Pass all the time."

She KEEPS arguing with me! Okay, does the fact that I live in MN and was in WDW three times in one year not indicate that I am just a little obsessed!?! And maybe that I know what I am talking about??? Ugh! She says that a CM (whom she called an employee so there ya go!!) told her that she couldn't use them if she was not onsite. I finally said, "You were given faulty information and there is an explanation of Fast Pass in the daily park guide."

The original info seeker, has called me twice and her husband ambushed me with questions when I saw him too to get more info, so at least they are not believing the crazed and very misinformed other Disney traveler. Yes, someone recognizes true genious when they see it. :rotfl:

I thought DHs family was bad when the would NOT listen to us, but this woman about pushed me over the edge.

Don't you love it when people ask you a question and then tell you you are wrong.... :confused3

Disnee Dad Says............................................I'm lucky, most of the people I know come to me for information.

I guess everyone at work knows how much of a Disney fan I am, seven trips to Disneyland that I don't post, and one for the thumb for WDW in two months.

Only once did I have to stand up to someone. This guy was so sure that early entry was for everyone!?? I said it was only for WDW resort guests. Blah, blah he said. I said ok, you bet 10 bucks, I'll put up 100 bucks. He's all happy, until he paid me three days later!

LOL Oh man I love hearing argument stories. :rotfl: They are always immensley amusing!

We were at the bookstore the other day and someone was debating about a WDW trip, and whether or not to get the "Official Adults Guide to WDW." And we all know that that book glosses over a lot of things. Now DH overhears and kindly suggests the "Unofficial" guide to them, and mentions how much more comprehensive it is, and we get into a nice chat about WDW with these folks right?

So of course htese people turn out to be scuba diving fanatics so I mentioned how you can dive in the Living Seas tank right? They started flipping through the official guide and arguing that that isn't so b/c it wasn't written in there! LOL

*Scratches head* I guess they'll be misisng out!

happens to me all the time at work..makes me nuts

I have this happen all of the time to me at work. There are two other people I work with that are planning trips for later in the year or next year. I have tried to talk to them and help them out with info, etc. I have even given them info about sites to read up about info and everything. But they still don't really seem to listen. :confused3 I hear them both talking to each other about their upcoming trips, etc. and I just have to bite my tongue to not jump in and tell them how wrong they are about things. I even had to tell the one that they were not going to find out the prices for Universal tickets on the official Disney web site. :rotfl:

Wow! I had made some pdf files back in 2003 about WDW - various info printed from Disney.co.uk - because that's when we were originally going. Out of curiousity I did a quick search of the pdfs (still have them on my hard disk) and look at this snippet below - I cut out the relevant bit. See date at top: 1/6/03. Ok, so it says Fastpass is the new *guest* service - presumably that meant resort guests? Interesting!!

Disney even calls day visitors "guests", not just those staying in WDW hotels.

I'm sorry, I should have read all of the posts before I replied!

BTW, just this evening DH & I were at a Relay for Life event and overheard a woman talking about having 4 park hoppers with 1 day each on them from a previous trip, and she & her husband probably wouldn't use them because it just wouldn't be worth it to only go for 2 days each. And that they were good for EPCOT, Disney World and the other parks. DH & I walked away and he asked me "how long do you think we'll be able to listen to her before we have to say something?" :rotfl: We just want to share our knowledge with everyone!!! Or maybe just take those tickets she's not going to use off her hands! :rotfl2:

Did it ever occur to him that if early entry was for everyone, it wasn't an early entry? I guess we'd just have a new park opening time, wouldn't we?

Yes, I fell victim to the ignorance of others. It was in 1997, and I was on a solo trip, waiting in line to check in at my resort. I stuck my nose into the business of a woman in line next to me. Believe me, I couldn't resist then, but I try hard to stifle the urge to correct now. (And I'm not always successful!

The woman in question told another woman with her that they could take a boat to get to Epcot directly from the Magic Kingdom. I dare many of you who posted to this thread to stifle yourself after hearing that! LOL!

Then again, I cringe when I hear people refer to the MK as "Disney World".
"We'll go to Disney World on Saturday. I want to see the Haunted House. Then we'll go to Epcot on Sunday." :rotfl2:

My favorite was a chat I had with a lovely couple who had been to WDW a year or 2 ago.

Them: Did you ever see that great fireworks show they have at Universal Studios?

Me: No, I've only been there once, for half a day.

Them: It's on the water.

Me: (confused) Do you mean where that water globe is? (Don't know how to describe that Universal sphere that's on their lake, but had no idea there were fireworks there...)

Them: No, the globe is Epcot. Anyway, you should really see that fireworks show. It has Mickey Mouse.

Me: (no longer confused, but biting tongue, mentally :rotfl2: ) Oh, you mean Fantasmic? Um, yeah, I've seen it. It's great, isn't it?

Gee, I hope I didn't lose all Disney credibility with them, not knowing that "the globe" was Epcot!

About the fast passes - unless they are asking you for help, just let them think they cant have them. We went year before last in october. Crowds weren't terribly bad. But big enough. We went into mgm about a couple of hours before closing to ride a couple of rides and see fantasmic (the rest of the extended family we just wanted to grab some rides). No fast passes for TOT left (understandable with the time) wait time over an hour. Rode rockin roller coster a couple of times with virtually no wait. Then they had closed the line to TOT cause the line was long enough to wait well past closing. SO the next morning after we rush in and do a couple of rides - muppets, star wars, A couple of others it was about 10:30-11, DH goes over to ride TOT or get fast pass, NO FAST PASSES WERE left for the entire day. they were completely sold out. The whole MGM experience that day was to terrible. Anyway now I know that you gotta plan and get those fast passes early. Everyone seemed to be getting the fast passes. Even little mermaid fast pass was for like 3 shows later- which we did of course. However we did have great luck with the ones at Epcot that night. DH rode what no one else wanted to using all four of our fast passes.
