Pens for autographs?

I know we should take bigger/rounder pens for characters like Mickey and Goofy to sign stuff, but I was hoping the princesses would sign a t-shirt for my girls. What type of pen should I take for that?

Sharpies and only Sharpie brand. We used Bic brand the first time and the ink ran in the wash. I will say the hot pink Sharpie seems to bleed a little when used on fabric, but it just makes the signature look a little wider, not smeared.

Also, we use an embroidery hoop when we do a shirt or pillowcase. The characters always give us a thumbs up!

Big, oversized Sharpie.

I'd avoid using the green color, however.

Great idea on the embroidery hoop. I was trying to figure out the best way to keep it tight for them to sign.

Why not green? Or I am not getting a joke?

Do either of you have a certain tip you recommend?

The green will not wash out of the white character gloves; I had a CM tell us this once when we were in line for Suzy and Perla. Although, we handed a lime green sharpie to a character at Disneyland last week without thinking (Max, Goofy's son) and he signed without a problem. I wondered if it was the primary green that was the problem.

We use the regular fine tip (not the super fine that looks like writing tip) Sharpies that come in the package of 8 colors. This should be a good time to find them on sale!

I would use a fabric marker/pen. You can buy them at any fabric store and trust me, they do NOT come out (DD "colored" on my down comforter when she was 2). You also have many color choices.

Have fun.

Take it from someone who used to work with the characters--the retractable Sharpie pens are the best. It is true about the green, though. I used to
carry red, blue and black retractable Sharpie pins in my "character bag" all the time. With the enlarged gloved hands on the characters, it makes holding them great and they don't have to worry about getting pen marks on their
costumes and you don't have to worry about losing the tops of the markers.
Bring a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are going to have them write on a tee shirt I would recommend putting it on a clipboard. They are going to need a hard surface to write on. The harder they bear down the better it will show up and wear. I don't think that an embroidery hoop will offer enough support.
