Penny Press machine collection questions:

I there! My family has gone to WDW 3 times and hit the penny rollers when we think of it. And after all of those times, we really only have a few repeats. Well we are looking at another trip in November and we'd like to continue on our penny press adventure / quest. I've got the pennies out of the penny books and I'm looking at each one with a magnifying glass, trying to list what I have and cross reference it with an online check list. However, how the penny is described, it doesn't always match the actual penny. And the photos online are TERRIBLE! Any suggestions/ideas?

I have no helpful information to offer, however I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in loving the pressed pennies.
I keep telling myself I need to make a list of what I already have before my next trip.

Bring your pennies with you, and check the machines versus what you already have. They change the dies in the machines fairly often, so it's really hard to keep a log of what's available at any specific machine at any time.

I found an app on line specifically for the penny machines for WDW and it is more accurate than the maps online (updated in April 2010!). So, I think I'm set. Thank you to all that responded!

I've been looking for the same thing for my nephew for when we go in August. We went last June and we got him interested in doing them the day before we left. We bought him a collectors book in a gift shop for around $8.00. I saw the app that you are talking about. But, if you go to presscoins.com, it's copyrighted for 2012/2013 and seems that it would be more up to date. You can filter by resort or park and retired or active. It shows prints of each one. Maybe this could be more beneficial to you.

Very cool app. Love that is shows pictures of them too. One question are we supposed to use certain years of pennies????

I think there is a thread on here of the years to use, first you soak i vinegar then rub with baking soda and boy do they get shiny
