I posted this in another thread I will post it here so I can post pictures in the next post.

I went with my neice (19 yo) to Discovery Cove and to Sea World. She loves penguins and I didn't tell her that I scheduled the Penguin tour. She loved it. She got to pet a penguin.

The penguin tour is a nice tour especially in the heat of summer. We went in June so the temps were in the 90's most of the week we were there.

First you meet in a gift shop and the guide gets you all together. From there we walked to the penguin center where she took us in the penguin building and we looked from the outside into the penguins. She talked about the different penguins and she pointed out some of the babies they had. The king penguin baby with the fur around his neck was cute.

From there we went around back where she showed us three rooms through the windows. One of the rooms had a baby puffin in it. It was being isolated for some reason I forget. After that we went into the back of the building where the trainers were. She split us into two groups. I was in the second so we went into the room with the trainer that had the puffin. This was a different puffin. We weren't allowed to touch him. The poor guy was without an eye because the other penguins (a puffin is another breed of penguin we found out) pulled him out of the nest when he was a baby. The trainer was very informative within the short time we had. He also held up the puffin so we could get a photo with it. I took one of my neice who was smiling brightly. Then it was time to switch places with the other group. This part of the building was a little cold. It felt refreshing from being out in the summer heat.

We switched places with the other group this time we stood in front of a hallway with a freezer like door. There was a black and white penguin standing in front of the door. The trainer there talked to us and after the talk gave us some time to pet the penguin. He then took us inside the peguin enclosure. We were still on a concrete patio but we could see the penguins from inside. The penguins stood on snow. The penguin outside came inside with us. The penguin enclosure is about 30 degrees farenheit so it was a tad bit cold but a welcome respite from the heat of the day. Did I mention this was the second tour of the day.

While we were inside the trainer warned us of a penguin who came to the gate (the gate was about to feet high just high enough for a penguin to pop his head over). The penguin was a bad penguin and he liked to peck at people with his beak so the trainer warned us to stay back. My neice continued to pet the penguin that was on our side of the gate. We stayed back from the gate a little while the other penguin was there. We saw all sorts of penguins that they had and sea gulls that were on the rocks.

That was it of the tour. We stayed inside the enclosure for about five minutes because it was so cold. We were led back outside of the building and told thanks for coming and enjoy the rest of the day at Sea World.

Hope this helps. I have photos but I left the SD card in NC with my mom. So I would have to scan them. Not sure as a newbie around here if I can post pictures.

The penguin tour was like 40 bucks for each of us. My 19 year old neice loves penguins so it was well worth the money. After we got there and went into the cold out of the heat for a little bit it was well worth the money to get out of the heat. I would probably do it again with other people if I went again.

I felt bad for this Puffin as he had only one eye. The missing eye was on the other side of his head.

Thanks for posting your review and photos, Dizney_Mike. :thumbsup2

I am trying to decide between the Penguin Tour and the Backstage Tour (which also lets guests pet a penguin) and this has been really helpful. :)
