Pekingese information please

Hi. I really hope you can give me a heads up on getting a Peke puppy. I have a 9 year old and a 7 month old. How are these dogs with children? How hard are they to housebreak? and anything else at all that you can come up with to help me with my decision to get this little dog. She isnt weaned yet so it will be 2 more weeks b4 we can go get her so that will give me some time to research. I work during the days and im a little worried about the housebreaking thing. I dont know how, Ive always been a cat person. I hope you all can throw a whole lot of advice my way. Thanks ahead of time.

While each dog is "individual", your breeder should be able to give you some information about the breed and this litter in particular (they would know how the parents are, which could give insight to the pups).

But, you can do some research on your own too! If you google "pekingese breed info" lots of information pops up and you can review it whenever you can!

I don't know if this will help, but my Grandma had 2 pekingese dogs. They died when I was around 11 yrs old, and were around since I was a baby. I LOVED those dogs! One of them was a sweetheart, but the other one could be grumpy. She never bit me but would snap at my brother (but he teased her). I would think if you got it as a puppy and taught your kids to treat it nicely it would be ok. Those dogs are so ugly they're cute! I used to pull them around in my wagon and they would just ride around and hang out with me.
