Peggie was admitted to the hospital late last night with a post-op infection.

Her counts are so low from the chemo that it is affecting her body's ability to heal her incision and fight off infection. By yesterday evening she was running a fever and the doctor told her to go into the emergency room.

Now the good news: After eight hours of IV antibiotics, her fever is just about back to normal, and she has recovered her usual fiesty spirit!. :p

Peggie will spend 2-3 days in the hospital, continuing on the IV medication. Her next chemo will be delayed, allowing her to more fully recover and gain some strength, probably at least 2 weeks, maybe up to 4 weeks. The down side to the delay is that it prolongs the course of treatment and delays the cruise!

I spoke to Peggie a little while ago and she sounds just about normal. ::yes:: So the remediation plan (as we say here at work, is underway. :)

Thanks Robyn for keeping us update!!

Peggie..............you keep fighting!!

We're all pulling for you and your continued improvement.

Just got off the phone with Peggie.

She said she is feeling much peppier now the fever is gone. She took a tylenol last night at 7pm for a fever of 101, at 8pm fever was 103....she knew that wouldn't do, so as Robyn said, doc sent her off to the hospital.

Her son was to make her cheese soup on Saturday and now she won't be home to enjoy it! Doc wants to keep her in for a few more days.

Other than the continuing 'metal mouth' and being stuck for blood draws to monitor the antibiotic levels, she is doing well.

As a side note, her brother had balloon angioplasty yesterday, is home and fine, but she told him she felt left out because he got to go to the hospital. Only Peggie...what a NUT!

Hang in there....show them who is boss...and work on getting you strength back.....and have your son bring some of the soup to the hospital for you....just don't share..those nurses will be drooling....

Thinking of you..and of course praying....

I wish i knew how to make cheese soup...cause Roger and I are going to visit her on Saturday. Since neither of us have a cold or are feeling yucky, we though it might be nice to take a drive and see what's up. If you have any messages to send along - just send me a PM and i'll be glad to deliver them. ....now if i could only figure out how to get to Epcot and back in time with some cheese soup. We'll save that for another visit. Caroline

Best Wishes for her recovery and fight!
