I just had a wonderful mini-visit (by phone) with Peggie.
She is at a very low energy point right now. Her blood count is very low (from the chemo), so she is very anemic. But most of the pain from the surgery is gone and she is off the pain medication completely.
She picked up her wig yesterday, and expects that she will need it soon. Tomorrow is her second chemo treatment and that usually causes the hair loss.
Richie continues to be a wonder! He is making her meals three times a day, and taking care of her every need. He has been promoted from Nurst Ratchett to Florence Nightingale! Peggie is having some problems with the incisions healing, and Richie is doing all the icky work without a complaint. (Of course, he has promised to hold this over Peggie's head forever! )
Peggie's hasn't been going out much except to her various doctor visits. She is concerned about challenging her low resistance, and can't find the energy anyway.
I'm passing along her thanks for all the continued cards, well-wishes, etc. She tries to get online a little each day, but she really isn't up to lots of chatty IMs right now. Hopefully, over the next weeks/months, she will find her groove -- even amid the chemo and radiation -- and be able to be more available.
