Peeper Market Prices...

I had this posted at the Resort Boards by accident.....

Can anyone tell me why there is such a big difference, for example, a hamburger at Pepper Market compared to the other moderate resort food areas? WDWIG is pretty accurate on food prices...a burger at Pepper Market is $9.50 where a bacon cheeseburger and fries at Port Orleans Riverside is $6.59. FYI, the $9.50 is BEFORE the added gratuity.

I am usually not one to complain about the prices but when you are talking a $3.00 difference between a burger and fries I'd love to know what the difference is? Has anyone been to Pepper Market lately and can give some feedback? Thanks so much!!!

You're not getting this burger at the other mods. Made to order (not heat lamp burgers) on the grill and more than a 1/4 pounder with the steak fries, with lettuce, tomato and onion slice and topped with a pickle.

Yeah, I learned the hard way -- don't buy food made up at a food court when they are not busy. Those burgers could have been sitting around along time. And good luck getting a hot one. You probably would at a food court if they were busy and really cranking them through.

Yes, it is CS on the DP (Maya Grill is the CSR's table service restaurant). There is an automatic 10% gratiuity at the Pepper Market, but this can be avoided by asking for a "to go" ticket.

Yep, that's why it is one of the best values for CS on the DP and some of the better tasting CS meals IMO. Although if you are not staying at CSR you do have to go out of your way to get there. Also the 10% automatic gratuity is included in the DP. That's where we'll be heading the day we get there in July.

Some please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Pepper Market run by someone other than Disney? I thought that it was, which may explain some of the differences in pricing and operation.

Two major difference to make the cost difference. 1-It's not the typical park burger. It actually tasted like a real burger. 2-Pepper market is NOT operated by Disney. On the dining plan the 10% surchage is not paid by you. You leave whatever tip you feel is warranted, as it is not full waitress service.

Yes it is a CS. Last Sunday I had the prime rib, a loaded baked potato and grilled veggies (grill special) as my entree, the hot apple pie ala mode (dessert special) as dessert, and an iced tea. The only restrictions on dessert is the retail has to be under $4.00 so it excludes some pastries and cakes

Yes, Pepper Market is run by an outside food service company. It is the same company that runs San Angel Inn at EPCOT, and Rixs lounge at CSR.
