Just wondering if there is a southern entrance to DLR off of Katella or is the only entrance off of Habour?

Right across from the convention center. Inside the gate catch the tram to the front gate. The last couple of trips we stayed at the Hilton and walked in that way.

You need to be careful you don't miss it, we missed it once staying at the Portofino and walked all the way around to DTD and in that way. We got into DL tired not a good way to start the day.

Be sure that the Timon parking lot is open, I know people who used it but the lot was not being used, this happens in the off season. They wasted time waiting for the tram and then had to hoof it into DL once they realized this. The parking lot will soon be closed permanently because this is where they are putting Cars Land, I don't know when contruction starts on this. :hourglass

To be clear though, this is a parking lot that has a tram that takes you to the entrance to the esplanade, yes? This isn't an actual other entrance.

Could not find one when we were there last and I really looked.

It's a parking lot. But when you are on Katella, there is a cross walk from the Convention Center. Right in that area, along the ivy covered fence is an opening that has a sign. Can't remember exactly but I think it said Pedestrian Entrance. It's got a walkway painted on the ground leading you to the tram pick up. But like others have said, if they are not letting cars park in this lot, then you have to walk to the front gates, and it's a pretty good walk.

If you mean a car entrance, no, it is just a pedestrian entrance. Like myself and others have said you can miss it, you need to be walking along the north side (DCA) of the street and there is a sign over the entrance. I would recomend it to anyone if the tram is running.

I just checked on google maps and street view on Katella and it is barely visable if you want to take a look at it that way.

Correct, the pedestrian walkway leads into the TIMON parking lot from the Anaheim Convention Center. When you get on the Timon tram from the esplanade, the Tram CM usually says something like: "This is the Lion King Tram to the Timon Parking lot and the walkway to the Anaheim Convention Center."*

And as gtrain219 posted above, at some point later this year, the Timon lot will be permanently closed for the DCA expansion project. My guess is right after the summer peak period, but that's a complete guess. At that point, I would bet that the pedestrian entrance/walkway would also close.

*This announcement always confuses me. Why do they call it the "Lion King Tram" and not the "Timon Tram"? :confused3

That always confuses me to. As much as I love the walkway and will be sad to see it go I am excited for the new Cars land to open up.

The reason why I wanted to clarify is that the way to get to a tram isn't an actual entrance to the park. And it sounded like the OP wanted another actual entrance. A tram is great and good (though I never chanced it when staying at anabella, we just walked up past PPH and into DTD via GCH) but it's not an actual entrance.

Might not be what the OP was asking, but if I'd asked that question in that way, I woudln't have wanted a tram as an answer (though it's a really good second, and I would have wanted people to *mention* it!!!!), I would have wanted something like the former entrance to DCA that is no longer...an actual entrance, ya know? :)

They've already started. I was able to walk thru a CM gate by ToT on Wed. and while talking to the CM with me she mentioned that they have already started const. in the parking lot (last remaining portion of original DL parking lot)

Good to know, anyone word if the parking lot is forever closed and/or the pedestrian entrance closed?
