Hi DISers -
Hoping the wealthy of knowledge and experience out there can tell me which of the Disney on-site resorts have pedestal sinks in the room bathrooms. I just hate pedestal sinks so want to avoid staying in those resorts. Thanks.

Port orleans riverside has pedestal sinks.

Most of the other resorts have some sort of counter sink. Usually a counter sink with free access underneath.

OK, I just have to ask out of curiosity why a pedestal sink is such a big deal??? Seems a very small thing to boycott a resort over. A resort with only twin beds, I'm with ya on the boycott...but a sink? If it isn't too personal to answer that is, I am just curious! Or am I the third most gullible person on the planet and this was a joke?

I don't usually care for pedestal sinks, either. Because I need a place to put all my "stuff".:)

But, don't worry about the POFQ....they have a nice long shelf ABOVE the sinks to put all your toiletries and things.

I'm not positive, but I believe the bathrooms at the POR also has the shelves above the sinks.

I know POR has the pedestal sinks, and I presume PO FQ has them also. I also think I remember that the Contemporary has them, or at least I remember there not being much shelf space beside their sinks. POR does has a nice shelf above each of the sinks, and I had plenty of space to place my stuff on.

All the DVC one bedroom villas have a pedestal sink in one room or the other of the master bathroom. There is one sink with a counter top and one pedestal. That would include the two bedrooms as well.

CSR has only one sink but it has lots of counter space. Not sure how it would work with pedestal sinks and that small self like POR/POFQ.

I am not a fan of pedestal sinks either, at home. But at the resorts I have stayed at that have them, you either have a big, long shelf above them or as Deb said, in the case of the DVC's you have another sink with a counter. I am pretty sure our pedestal sink in the tub area of our one bedroom at OKW had a shelf above it, it also had a little cabinet type thing right next to it. And a large counter style sink in the toilet/shower bathroom area.

The shelf above the ones at the Port Orleans Resorts works great. To me the biggie is having two sinks. I find that most helpful when our family of four is getting ready. It was the only thing I didn't like about CSR (not a biggie and I'd stay there again). I really missed having that second sink when we were all getting ready in the morning.

I'm with you on the importance of having two sinks! I travel with my two boys, and it's great to have one sink to myself and let the boys use the other one. (It's slightly less gross that way...:) ) I'm not nuts about pedestal sinks either, (I always stub my toes on them) but the shelf across the sinks at POR was more than adequate, and I didn't miss counter space. The coffee maker fits well on the shelf too.

Exactly! If I have to share one sink with my husband, no problem. As soon as my son comes near a bathroom sink, I want to flee the scene! I hate pedestal sinks because when I was in college I lived in an old apartment that had ped. sinks and an old style tile floor. I shattered a lot of cases of blush and powder when they would fall off that small sink edge! So at least the ones at WDW have something to store your stuff on.

I'd say, at least at Disney, to try being open minded on this one! Mom and I hate pedestal sinks as well. We booked POFQ last fall and were really apprehensive knowing we'd have them---and WHERE to put all our stuff!

Turns out we LOVED it... the long narrow shelf held absolutely everything. Mom said there was more room than the smaller counter type sinks (note that at home she and dad have a VERY loooong vanity counter w/2 sinks).

If it's a matter of style/design--and you're a true "sink snob" you'll want to avoid POFQ. If it's a matter of practicality and you need room for toiletries, I think you might be pleasantly surprised (and enjoy having 2 sinks over one) at POFQ.

JMHO
Best of luck with whatever you choose!!:)

agree 100%...I was amazed how much shelf space there was, I'd guess about 8" deep & at least 5 feet long.(Those pedestal sinks are not right up against each other, there's a little space between.) There was room for all my make-up & toiletries, and my DH's shaving stuff, + all the meds like aspirin & allergy med, + all the lotions (sunscreen, sunburn stuff, etc.) And still room to set morning cup of coffee up there while doing make-up & such. We were there for 6 nights, never thought there wasn't enough room. In fact, we'd been at the Poly in 2007...we definitely preferred the POFQ arrangement to the Poly.

Our experience was the same. The nice long shelf was great. I could leave my makeup there, and it was handy, but not in the way. DH and I really appreciated the convenience of two sinks. :thumbsup2

There is plenty of shelf space above them. As a matter of fact, when we were at the BC this past December, I had wished that I had that shelf like I get at POFQ. :)

Here is a picture of CBRs sink. (I'm kinda a sink snob too. I need ALOT of room!)

Can I just say I am so happy to have stumbled upon this thread? We'll be at POFQ in August. When I saw the bathroom pics I got a bit worried about having no counter space for toiletries. I'm so relieved to hear there's a big shelf above them! May seem like a small thing, but some small things count. :goodvibes
(Also the apartment I've been in for 4 years has a pedestal sink and I am so sick of that thing, I can't even tell you!)

Does anyone know if the pedestal sinks have been replaced with counters at POR? ::sink snob:: :rotfl:

Thanks!
