Has anyone used the mode of transportation while visiting KW? If so, how much for how far?
Just read an article on KW in Southern Living and they suggested this but gave no price.

By the way, we will be there next Sunday!!!!

Russ

Russ have you gone to Key West . We are going to try the electric cars while we're there. They looked fun too.
Have a great time.

Hi Russ back at you again. They are called Perfect Pedicab their phone number is 305-292-0077 they are located at 819 Peacock Plaza. From what I undrestand you will see them all around the shopping areas and at Mallory Square. You can call the Tourism Board for more info. 1-800-352-5397

If you will email me, I will send you one of my business cards and hope that they will give you conch discount with it.

Hopkins, I called about the electric cars this morning. I wanted to reserve one for our visit to Key West on Oct. 27 but they don't reserve. :( The guy I talked to said to just give them a call once we are off the ship, they would send a shuttle to pick us up.

We were going to do the Conch Train but this looks like more fun.

Ginger,

How many hours are you going to rent one for? We were thinking maybe a half day. I'll be looking for your trip report when you get back. Are you going to write one?

Have a great trip!
Tina

Russ,

That article in Southern Living, is it in the current issue and also does it give a touring plan? I'll check out your trip report, too!

Thanks and have a great trip!
Tina :)

Sept. 2002. It gives a 3 day tour plan with places to eat and stay and things to see. One of the places to eat it suggests is Blue Heaven. We saw it on a Travel Channel show one night and they liked it as well. You eat with chickens walking around everywhere. It is supposed to be where Hemingway refereed boxing matches.
Thanks for everyones help,
Russ

Russ -- I was born and raised in Key West and this is why I know about the town - Blue Heaven is not only an excellent place to eat, but quite an exprience - it is in Bahama Village - I was born just several blocks down from Mr. Hemingway's home - my spanish grandfather taught Pauline Hemingway how to speak spanish - Many Many Many years ago, Blue Heaven was a "house of ill repute" and yes there other stuff that happened there - my daddy was a policeman during that time, and it kept his life very interesting.

To those that are interested to rent a bike or scooter, you can go to Moped Hospital on the corner of Simonton and Truman - aks for Charlie, who is my hubby's son) and he will be very fair with you.

Hello everybody,
This is the following information on Pebicab available in Key West.
I just spoke to Aaron who is the manager - the cost is $60.00 for one hour and holds 3 people - the tour is only in OLD TOWN unless there is a special request for other spots - such as the graveyard - You can call for reservations and at that time you will be told who your driver will be and you will be picked up at the ship - IF you mention that you received this information from Shirley at The Perfect Gift - they will offer you 10% off the $60.00.
I understand from Aaron that each driver is well informed of the history of Key West and does explain everything and will answer all questions. Peacock Plaza is at Sears Town on North Roosevelt Blvd. that is why if yu are interested in this call Aaron at 305-292-0077.
Hope this has helped and again I gain nothing from this except to help those that go to my hometown.
With love
Shirley

Thanks, Shirley!

Hubby and I rented an electric cart on Catilina Island off of Southern California and we had the best time touring the sites and seeing the island at our own pace. He's like a little boy! It reminds me of the first time kids see the Speedway in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World. He loves cars!

Tina :)

I hope we get to stop by and say Hi on Saturday time permitting.

Russ and Miss Vivian

Hi Russ,
Please stop by if you have the chance and I will give you some information that may help in KW.
God Bless each and all

Thank You Shirley for the info on the pedal cabs.

Hopkins we are only looking to rent for 2 hours. We'll need a 4 seater. We also want to take our DD to Bayview Park, they are holding a Children's Day with games and crafts Halloween Costume contest. I usually write a trip report. It helps me get over my coming home depression. LOL Maybe we should have a state of Maryland DIS'ers Disney Cruise. We could all meet somewhere and drive down together.

Hello Ginger,
All of the children of Key West grew up at Bayview Park - even my mother as a little girl, my uncle graduated from there - in fact all of the graduations were held there until the early 60's - you will meet a lot of conchs when you go - tell them you are "friends" with Shirley Nelson (Abreu) and my hubby Norman Hicks - everybody down there knows Norman.

I don't know about the Pedicab for 2 hrs - maybe Aaron will give you a better price since I am recommending him -

Anyhow have a wonderful time getting ready for your trip.
Always
Shirley
