So yesterday on the way home from a sports event, we were going to get some lunch and then pick up a couple things in Whole Foods, of course hubby is "starving" and doesn't want to wait to eat at the restaurant I want to go to ( but thats a whole other vent), so anyway, he says "let's just eat in Whole Foods".........they do have really yummy food on their hot and cold food bars, so I say ok fine.
so we get there and the kids pick their food, i take them to sit down, hubby is with them, so I go off to grab a salad.
they are seated at a 4 person table. so hubby gets up to get something and while he is gone ( he can see the kids the whole time, he was in the same area) a lady comes over and sits down at the table with the kids, she isn't right next to them she is off to the edge of the table, one side was bench seats and the other chairs, she sat on the bench side way to the edge ofthe table.......but still..........there were multiple tables completely empty its not like it was filled up. and the other tables empty were small ones, like 2 person tables.

so hubby sits back down perplexed.
I am in the line paying for my salad and I see this and I am like :confused3
apparently when she sat she said to the kids " is it ok if i sit here" my 6 yo said no, but apparently she didn't listen.

when I came over she got up and left.
but do you find that so odd like I do??

I think that's very peculiar, especially in light of the fact that there were other empty tables.

I could maybe see if the place was crowded with no other empty spot and she "perhed" at the end of your table to eat kind fof quickly or something.

I'd consider it very odd too.

yes, i find that VERY odd. and peculiar, and strange, and weird. this person is not, as a PP suggested, "right".

That is all kinds of crazy.

Were there no other seats available...?

Does she not understand the word "no"...?

:confused3

Yes, it is odd. Maybe the lady had some kind of mental handicap or something.

But I've seen people do stranger things than that.

Did she eat or have something to eat with her? Did she move to another table in another area or leave altogether?

People are just odd sometimes. Yesterday Hubbie and I went to see a movie and were the only ones it the theatre and two women come and sit down right next to him........:confused3 What?? Poor man the one was a leaner so he had to lean over toward me the whole movie. We were going to move over when four more people come in and sit in our row on the other end so if we moved I would be by a big guy. By this time the theater started filling up so we just park it and try to enjoy the movie but one of the women on my side was a scream laugher, it wasn't that funny of a movie, but every other minute she would let out this high pitched AHHHHH then laugh really loud. It would be one thing if it were really funny but it was The Bounty Hunter mildly amusing at best. We were wondering what she was drinking, and what you have to ask for at the consession stand to get it.

Maybe it's the herding mentality, like when you're the first couple in the movie theater and another couple comes in and sits directly in front of you.:confused3:rotfl:

LOL there were multiple tables empty, smaller 2 person type tables. that is why it was so odd to me.

If it had been packed and no seats, I don't think it would have seemed so peculiar to me, but yep lots of empty tables

Could she have been looking to pick up a new partner with 2 cute kids? :confused3
LOL :rotfl:

Did she eat or have something to eat with her? Did she move to another table in another area or leave altogether?

She was eating a sandwich, and she was almost done when I got back to the table.........she got up and left altogether,
it was very odd.

No, I don't really find it so odd. It's a public place and she could have simply plunked there (regardless of what the child said) without any real thought to what she was doing.

No harm done, eh? She moved when you came along...

In the grand scheme of things, this reallly probably won't matter much tomorrow, eh? :teeth:

The only reason I could think of is she was concerned the kids were without adult supervision??

It is odd but you never know, she could have had a good reason in her mind. Like another said, maybe she was hoping to start up a conversation with your dh.

I would think it odd, but who knows!

Oh, I hate when people do things like that! I can see it happening if the area was very busy, but not if there were plenty of other empty tables around. I remember once when I went to the gym- the ladies locker room is set up with a bunch of lockers, and you just go in and pick one as there are no assigned lockers. On this particular day, the room was virtually empty and there might have been a handful of lockers with locks on them, indicating they were being used. I picked a locker, put my stuff in, and started to change clothes. A lady came in, and where did she decide to put her things? Yup, RIGHT next to me! Why??? :confused3:rotfl2:

I eat at Whole Foods and if yours is anything like ours I think it is really odd. Ours doesn't have community-style tables, they are all pretty obviously standard one-family tables. Even with a bench I wouldn't think the tables were community style unless they were all very large 10-12 person tables.

She sounds like a bit of a weirdo.

I think it's very odd. It would really annoy me! She sounds really weird. I especially find it strange that she asked the kids if she could sit there and then did so anyway after they said "No". Why bother asking if she was just going to do whatever she wanted no matter what the response was?
