Have heard about the pearl picking in Epcot and would love to have my boys pick one for me and their grandmas. However I don't know how much it costs so I can budget for it. Can someone please tell me how much it is and also where exactly it is? Thanks!

It is located inside one of Japan's buildings. If I am remembering correctly it is like $35, it may be a little less. You can then have the pearl set in a necklace, ring, or something else, or just take it how it is. It was fun to see what you get.

It's about $14. Then you can pay to have it set in a piece of jewelry. The cheapest piece is probably around $20 and then things go up from there to very nice pieces.

Editing to add that it is located inside the department store in the Japan pavillion in Epcot.

To just pick a oyster for a pearl...it cost about $15.

to have it set... :confused3

Well in DL's DTD it's $14.95 to pick a pearl, then you chose a setting and that's where it gets pricey. We really like to do this and we do it together as a family, DD9 has 2 blue pearls from 2 trips, DD13 has 2 white and I have 2 white, we will probably do another one before our APs expire later this year. Anyway, our first settings were really fancy so they were pricey, our second settings were just standard so they were $19.95, we didn't buy chains because we will use the chains we already have from the first time. :)

I recently saw a walking tour blog of Epcot by DizneyMike (I think that's his name). In it there was a picture of the Pick-A-Pearl station and a sign on the counter said $15.96.

The blog can be found on allears.net.

If you plan ahead you can bring your own necklaces with cage type charms and put the pearl right in. I know that someone found a place that sells a carriage charm....I just can't find the info right now. Have fun!!! We did this on our last trip and we can't wait to go back and pick out another one!

eBay! Got on already for DD!

You can also Pick a Pearl on the Boardwalk right in front of the Y&BC.

THank you so much everyone for all of the info. I went looking at the thread MSKAYJAY put up and found a wealth of info and pictures. I am so excited about doing this now. I also found out about the pearl cages for necklaces on ebay. My plan now is to order one or two of them from ebay and bring them with me. I might find something at disney that I will fall in love with but if not or if it's too pricey I will have one ready. Thanks again.

I think the pearl experience was totally fun and worth it. The setting I wanted they told me they didn't recommend as my pearl was a little small, so I went with a basic setting for a necklace. It was not pricey at all. (less than $40 the oyster and the setting) The only negative I could say is that I had to wait a loooooong time. I was 4th in line, but the people in front of me each had like 8 picks and the cast members of course go all out for each one so it took a long time.

I had a very simple setting, but I didn't really like that many that they had available... heres a picture.

OK - so there's 3 places to do these right? Japan, DTd & Boardwalk - right?

But the only one with hoopla is Japan?

where in DTD is the place?

and where on the Boardwalk?

don't think we're doing Epcot this trip - but wanna do it somewhere but also want it to be something special for the girls - something they'll remember...

Be careful about that carriage cage. A friend got one and her dd got a 6.5mm pearl and it didn't really fit well. It didn't close properly. My dd picked a pearl and it was 7.75mm and we saw a lady get a 9mm pearl! It's alot of fun.

I am thinking I have seen another place that sells the pearls

Blizzard Beach, maybe?

I have purchased twice at the stand on the Boardwalk - never a lineup and right on the water - it's a nice spot to shop.

My DD(9) wanted to do this on our trip we were at DTD on last Thursday so I ended up letting her do this for her prize. She ended up picking one that had an 8.5 pearl in it. So of course it was to big for the smaller cheaper fittings. Anyway she ended up with a really nice piece with 3 dolphins circling the pearl. The pearl picking itself was 15.95 but with the fitting it added $$$.

There is a pick a pearl place at Typhoon Lagoon next to where you can swim with the sharks and fish. My daughters picked pearls in Japan and the CM did a little announcement and showed their pearls to everyone. It was $15 for each oyster then my girls picked silver rings which were about $36 dollars each.
I spoke to the Lady at the booth at TL and she told me that they were independent of Disney and of the Japan shop. They had different settings as well.
My daughters loved the whole experience at Epcot. The Japanese ladies were entertaining!

The pearl is about $15 in Japan but on the boardwalk its more. Also, it depends on what kind of setting you want ring, necklace,etc.. It also cost less if you bring your own chain.
