Has anyone done the Aulani excursions for Pearl Harbor? I heard so many people say to do your own visit but me and DH like the idea of being shuttled to it without having to think about timing and driving, etc.... :) Just wondering if anyone has done a Pearl Harbor tour and which one is recommended.

We did the USS Arizonia memorial tour through Aulani in July.
There are 2 options for Pearl Harbor tours: USS Arizona only and one that does the AZ, the USS Missouri and Punchbowl Crater Cemetary.
Both do the AZ first. Our tour guide was great and gave a lot of info on the drive. When we arrived at PH, we were given our AZ tickets for the 8:30 movie and shuttle to the memorial. No waiting in line at all. We had enough time beforehand to walk through the USS Bowfin. We were back to Aulani before lunch.
On the other tour, you drive to the MO for a tour and then drive to Pinchbowl (windward side of island).

We did the one with the Arizona, the Missouri and Punchbowl. It was a great tour and very convenient. Our tour guide was very good and very informative. Easy way to do things.

What was the cost of this as opposed to doing it on your own for (relatively) free?

Don't forget you still need transportation to get the Pearl Harbor area and back. So the cost of the rental car for that day would be part of the expense for relatively free day. But it is still much cheaper to do it on your own. Although you might learn more with a guide.

The cost for the combo tour of Pearl Harbor, USS Missouri and Punchbowl with a bus ride to and from. https://aulaniexcursions.pleasantac...bor-remembered-from-ko-olina-tour-66k-730-am/

Adult US$120.42
Child (3-11 years old) * US$100.52

We took the longer tour and thought it was worth the money. The tour was excellent. You cannot visit the USS Missouri unless you are on a tour of some type and it was one of our favorite things we did. Generally we are the type of family to do things on our own so we were very surprised that we ended up feeling the tour was worth the money. We did everything else on our own while there so this was certainly a splurge.

Our guide took us through Honolulu on a sightseeing tour then to the Punchbowl Cemetary, Arizona memorial then USS Missouri. We learned more than we expected and were fully entertained.

We did the tour that did the Arizona, Big Mo, and the Punchbowl. It was well worth the money for the six of us to not have to drive, park, and then drive back to the hotel. We had plenty of time at the Big Mo to both go on the guided tour and walk around on our own. Then were able to go over to the Arizona Memorial and go pretty much straight into the theater.

Sit back and enjoy yourself while in Hawaii. Let them pamper you a little more.

I also did the pearl harbor tour - az, Missouri and punchbowl tour thru the tour co versus going on my own. I went oct 17th and they were closing early because of the incoming hurricane. We had tickets for the 10:30 "show" so we went to the punch bowl first, then to pearl harbor to see the AZ. There was time to walk around before going out to the memorial. We then went to the Missouri which is on the navel base there. We had lots of time to walk around after the 30 minute tour, but by then it was about 1pm and I was starving, so I spent some time eating. got some great pictures and felt it was worth the money versus me going alone (I had a rental car for the week).

My case ended up being a little special, since the hurricane shut things down for the weekend. If I hadn't booked the tour, I might not have been able to go or get tickets, since it was closed that weekend and I was there Thursday to Wednesday (arriving mid afternoon and leaving late afternoon on said days).

I also did the majestic circle tour on my birthday (the 19th). It was still raining from the hurricane and the tour was not cancelled as we had the required 10 people. It was cut short, since 2 of the places we were supposed to go were closed (Diamond Head and Wiamea Falls - sorry didn't spell that right) and so we spent more time at the Dole plantation, but by then only the gift shop was open!

The ladies at the tour desk are great! I also signed up last minute to do a surf lesson, and my group lesson turned private, so I got a great price!

What? Surf lessons? At the resort? Or offsite? I've always wanted to try surfing.

Not on site...there are no waves. Several surfing companies will pick up from Aulani and take you to another location for the lessons.

Yes. The instructor picked me up and we drove about 10 minutes away. My group lesson turned into a private lesson since there was no one else signed up. I am glad I didn't drive myself in my rental car (lol)! I had a great time, didn't too real great, but hey!

Who did you go with to do surfing?

We are planning to got to Aulani along with an NCL cruise to see the other islands in 2016. How far ahead do you have to book the excursion to Pearl Harbor?

It's been changing- currently 2 months.
