We are heading to the park next month for the first time since we found out about DD7 peanut allergy. I am confidant in our actual meal plan but am wondering if there is a safe ice cream option in the parks for her? Thanks!

Supposedly Ghirardeli removed peanuts from their shop, but you'd have to ask about possible shared equipment where the ice cream, syrup and toppings are made, since they use peanuts at their other locations they probably still manufacture it in the same locations. At Gibson Girl they have an allergy prep area, but they changed what they'll offer recently. You can get a scoop of vanilla or chocolate in a cup. No cones, no toppings. As far as I remember the Mickey bars and ice cream sandwiches from the carts are all made on shared equipment. I think the frozen fruit popsicle is safe, but the frozen banana in the cart with it has nuts, so it depends if you feel safe trying a packaged item stored right next to another packaged item. The Minute Main frozen lemonade may be safe, you'd have to check the label on the package. Dole whips should be safe too, but again, check at the location.

I remember reading about Ghirardelli removing peanuts from their shop but I wasn't sure if this was true. She will be happy with plain vanilla or chocolate ice cream , I just don't want to tell her that's an option if it won't be possible.

Ghirardelli did remove peanuts, but the problem with any ice cream is that all flavors are usually made on the same machines, so cross contamination is an issue. Our 4 yo son has an allergy. We let him have the prepackaged Mickey head ice cream, since the package doesn't say anything about containing peanuts or processed where there are peanuts. He also has dole whip, and we also let him have the chocolate or vanilla soft serve. But that's it as far as ice cream.

The individual Mickey bar wrappers don't have the warning, but Disney and Nestle have confirmed many times that all the pre-packaged ice cream is made in a place that also uses peanuts.

My kid has a peanut and tree nut allergy. She had the soft serve at the place on the wharf at CA Adventure. I read the label. She had it in a dish. They said the cone could have cross contamination so we skipped that.

I have a severe peanut and tree nut allergy. I have never had an issue with the Mickey Ice Cream bars at Disney parks (and I eat multiple per trip usually when we go to Disney World). same goes for the soft serve ice cream.
when we visited Disneyland last year I had ice cream at Clarabelle's. I just made sure I asked when ordering what would be ok for me to eat.
I have learned that Disney is very accommodating to nut allergies, so if you are ever unsure (especially at restaurants) don't be afraid to ask. I always have to be very careful especially when it comes to desserts and they are always so great in working with me to find something I can eat.
