HI,

We have been to Disney previously and know how wonderful they are with food allergies:cool1:

I was just wondering if anyone with these allergies can share if they have had any luck with desserts at any of the restuarants or counter service. We are visiting again and I was hoping that maybe there are some new desserts that might be good. We are on the dining plan and have received ice cream but it would be really nice to be able to have something different.

I will be sending disney an email to get updated information for snacks and such but was hoping for some suggestions as well

Thanks

I'm afraid we didn't have a lot of success with desserts. We are tree nut, not peanut, but at disney they usually avoid both I found especially for desserts.

Ohana usually does a brownie and ice cream. At Biergarten in Epcot I know the chef brought something different, but I can't quite remember what.

They usually offered the standard ice cream, divvies cookies, the nestle popsicle and the allergy friendly brownie.

We often did the popcorn which is safe for tree nut, but I might recall it wasn't for peanut, so please check on that.

The popcorn is not safe if you avoid peanut oil. Some people do, some people dont. The oil they use is made in the same facility as peanut oil so I avoid it.

For desserts...CS was usually Divvies cookies or just some fruit for me. but I have peanut and egg allergies.

For TS, my favorite was CP becaus ethe self serve ice cream is safe! I ate sooo much of it!

It depends what level you are in avoidance. If you can do processed in a factory with there are tons of options. If not there are still lots of options at TS places. I had chocolate terrine at lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern that was DELISH. At 50's Prime Time I've had the smores or the Boston Cream cupcake. At Crystal Palace and Tusker House they have Krispy Kreme donuts produced in a no nut factory. At Grand Floridian Cafe I couldn't have anything at all they didn't even have prepackaged safe treats :( They did have ice cream but I'm allergic to all legumes and ice creams all have bean gums (except Haagen Daz). If you can do in the factory with all the prepackaged cakes seemed to not have nuts but did have that standard warning as do the rice krispie treats, big soft pretzels, funnel cakes, and popcorn.

DD was able to have some of the desserts at Chef Mickey's - soft serve ice cream and rice krispie treats.

Most TS places had either ice cream or Divvies cookies.

The chef at Boma made her an enormous ice cream sandwich with Divvies cookies, vanilla ice cream, and Mickey sprinkles.

At Narcoossee's, DD had the s'mores, except that they had to use Hershey's syrup instead of Hershey bars because the bars they had weren't safe.

Some restaurants are excellent and others are not - and even then it can come down to what chef is helping you. Some will go out of their way and others will give you a plastic container of tofutti (for some reason - even though your allergy is just nuts!). I think I've seen it all!

We've had good luck at Biergarten and CP. If you can find Chef TJ - who is now working at the Grand Floridian Cafe and their other buffet restaurant with characters (name escapes me) - those restaurants share a kitchen. He will make you a meal not to be believed - he is wonderful.

We've also had good luck at Le Cellier. It is truly hit and miss for desserts!

At CS, my peanut/treenut allergic kids had yogurt, grapes or apple slices for dessert. Pizzafari told us they sometimes get the Divvies cookies, but were out of them when we were there.

At TS, it's hit or miss. At LTT, my kids got plain vanilla ice cream, while Sci-Fi made them sundaes with chocolate syrup, Mickey sprinkles, whipped cream and cherries. Most of the buffets gave the kids brownies and/or Divvies cookies. Some had soft serve ice cream. At Chef Mickey, the chef made them giant platters with the brownies, cookies and safe gummie bears. Mama Melrose had a special flourless chocolate cake that was pretty good. Plain vanilla ice cream or fruit were the most common options. The best was Coral Reef, where my daughter was able to get the Wave. Consequently, it's her favorite Disney restaurant and has become a must-do every trip.
