My soon to be step daughter will be at Disney with us & she has peanut & soy allergies. Has anyone dealt with this at the World. I would love to hear your feedback. Thanks!

I have dealt with this many times since I have a peanut allergic child. WDW is one of the best places to travel since they are so accommodating. When you make a reservation, let the castmember know that you are travelling with a food allergic child. They will tell you to call the restaurant X number of days prior. I have done that, but really nobody there wants to talk to me. :) Anyway, at the restaurant on the actual day, a chef will come out and talk to you about what is safe. Often they will make special food too. Also, try to avoid restaurants which serve peanuts in their food as a matter of course (African food, Thai, Chinese). You can look at at the menus online. Make sure you carry her epipen and benedryl around with you as well. Finally, bring some safe snacks with you so you can feed her whenever without having to ask a cart vendor for info every time.

We haven't done it with peanuts and soy, but we have done other allergies. In addition to making sure it's noted with our ADRS, I email the special diet folks at one of the parks ( WDW.MK.Special.Diets@disney.com will get you MK) and they sent me a list of safe things at CS/snack places and if you send them a list of your ADRs they can send a worksheet around to all the restaurants you plan to dine at. It includes all your allegies, the age of the allergic person (if they're a child), preferred foods, special occassions you may be celebrating, special requests, etc.

You only need to email one park, they can send you the safe lists for all the parks and pass around your information internally to all the parks. I don't usually bother to call the restaurants a couple of days ahead - but if I had particular special requests I would. I'm considering trying to call to get a gluten free, chocolate free special dessert for my mother - but I'm so uninspired on the chocolate front that it would turn into "could you just arrange for some fresh fruit?" Erm, ok - I should call and arrange something, I know they can do better than that.

WDW is WONDERFUL when it comes to allergies/diets etc. My grown DD has peanut, corn, soy allergies and they were great. At the buffets, the waitstaff will call the chef out and the chef will walk you down the whole buffet and tell you what you can/can't have AND at the TS restaurants, the chef will come out and guide you through the menu. At one buffet, my DD came back and said, she felt so badly because there were only a couple of things (outside of desserts) that she couldn't have and the chef took the time to go over each dish with her. When you call for dining reservations, just let them know to note the allergies on the computer. Many people call ahead to be sure the allergies are in the system or 24 hours ahead, call each restaurant where the reservations are held to be sure it's noted.... We never did either and they always knew about the food problems.

Great ideas thank you. I just emailed them....

I just got back from a trip 2 weeks ago and at each sit down restaurant that we went to the hostess asked us if we had an allergies. Have a great time!!

I got a response this morning from the dietary people at Disney, if anybody needs menus sent to them you can email me at kt27@optonline.net

just got back from DW with my son who has a severe peanut allergy the chef will come out and talk to you at the restraunts if you want. We went to OHANAS and was conceerned he came out a reassured us. We did have a problem though the ist one EVER at disney and we go all the time.. WE stayed at Coronado Springs and we had to keep him away from the pepper MArket.. Between the mexican and the chinese there was way to much stuff in the air....HE had a bad reaction the first night just after being in it for a few minutes not evne eating yet...

Another parent of a peanut-allergic DD here. Just ask the waitstaff. They'll make sure to inform you of anything that touches peanuts or contains them. We never had any problems with this at WDW.
