We have a peanut allergy in our group.

I am wondering if I should worry about the peanut sauce on the plates that bring out the other food.

I have read on here that people love that sauce and put it on a lot of things not just the meat the noodles even the bread.

Just wondering if some of you have gone there with a peanut allergic person and they not have any problems eating off of the same plates ect... I know they wash everything but I just wonder....

So what is your experience?

Now obviously, your mileage may vary, but we have not had any problems...

The peanut sauce comes in little bowls - guests can spoon some of the sauce onto their own plate if they wish. At that point, they can dip the food into their sauce or whatever.

If you didn't take any peanut sauce, your plate will be perfectly clean...

When they serve things 'family style' or on 'skewers', the stuff never touches existing plates of food. The waiters take a fork and drop the meats onto your plate (gently), but there is no cross-contamination. The side dishes and apps are all served in their own bowls -- you take out what you want and put it on your plate.

Unless your guests are literally eating off of each others' plates -- or touching each others' food, etc...there shouldn't be any cross-contamination.

That said, it probably depends on the severity of the allergy -- some can't be near peanuts, other just can't ingest... Also, it depends on the age/mental maturity of the person with allergies. If they know there will be peanuts at the table, they can be cautious, etc...

Sorry if this isn't much help -- I can't tell you yes/no, because every person/allergy is different. One thing is for sure - make sure you have your EPI pen with you on vacation -- just in case...

I would'nt chance it..... there are so many other choices in WDW why worry throughout the entire meal.

My DD3 has a severe peanut allergy (we carry the epi-pen). We ate at 'Ohanas twice with no problem. On our first trip, we didn't know to warn them in advance of her allergies, so they brought the sauce to the table. For the second trip, they already knew and never brought it to us. By the way, let the restaurant know about allergies in advance and a chef will come to the table to discuss all allergy issues before they serve any food. It was pretty cool when the chef told my daughter "tonight I am your personal chef. You will not get anything that I do not personally prepare."
