We have one of the suspected containers of Peter Pan!! :faint: and my DFi has very similar symptoms after eating a spoonful yesterday afternoon. Funny thing is I opened the container a while ago and had a peanut butter sandwich but didn't get any symptoms.

Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Great Value Peanut Butter Products Beginning with Product Code 2111 Recalled for Possible Salmonella Contamination
OMAHA, Neb.-(Business Wire)-February 15, 2007 - ConAgra Foods today announced that it has taken the precautionary measure of voluntarily recalling all varieties of Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Great Value Peanut Butter beginning with product code 2111 imprinted on the lid of both brands. ConAgra Foods is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate a statistical report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that these products may be linked to the foodborne illness salmonella.

While this affects Great Value Peanut Butter beginning with product code 2111, there are other manufacturers of Great Value Peanut Butter that are not affected by this recall.

"Although none of our extensive product tests have indicated the presence of salmonella, we are taking this precautionary measure because consumer health and safety is our top priority," said Chris Kircher, spokesperson for ConAgra Foods. "We are working closely with the FDA to better understand its concerns, and we will take whatever additional measures are needed to ensure the safety, quality and wholesomeness of our products."

If consumers have this product, they should discard it, but save the product lid. For a full refund, consumers must return the Peter Pan Peanut Butter or Great Value Peanut Butter product lid along with their name and mailing address to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 57078, Irvine, CA 92619-7078.

Consumers with questions or concerns about the recall can call the 24-hour toll-free hotline at 866-344-6970. For more information about salmonella, visit www.ific.org.

:scared1: I have two half full jars here with that code on the lid! :scared1:

But wouldn't it have made us sick by now if it was going to????:confused3

Apparently not everyone gets sick from it. Remember the outbreak at Taco Bell? Not everyone who ate the contaminated food got sick.

:scared1: I just got all weak and tingly when I went and looked at mine. It's in the trash now, but it was 3/4 gone. It's what I made my son's lunch with everyday.:guilty:

DH just said dump it! He said not to even bother with the lids since we have to pay to send them back, but heck--Peanut Butter is expensive! What I spend in postage will be less than the value of the PB!!!

I just threw mine away, it was nearly gone. :scared1:

DD was throw-up sick Sunday night. I wonder if the peanut butter had anything to do with it.

ACK!! Never heard of Peter Pan Peanut Butter though

I have a jar right next to me and YUP, it does have the 2111 code on it. I am going to take it back to the store!!

Thanks, OP, for the "heads-up"!!!

Uh-oh, mine has that code on it too. Bad thing is my dh just ate sandwich of it right before I checked this thread out:scared1: He said he hadn't been feeling too good lately-almost the whole jar is gone:eek:

They have said NONE of the extensive product testing has indicated any presence of salmonella...it is a "precautionary" measure.

I am sure your DH will be fine, but I would do as instructed with the pb, discard and mail the lid back to ConAgra. :thumbsup2

We have one of those as well. My grandma was pretty sick a few nights ago, wanted to go to the ER. . . nausea and stomach cramps. I'm wondering if she ate PB that day.

Thansk for posting this! This is my moms favorite brand. I gave her a call and hers was code 2111. She is dumping it in the trash. Ours was a different product code.

I better go check mine..we have 2 jars in the house...

We are a Skippy family, but I passed the info along to all our friends & family just in case. Thanks for the heads up. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info. We had that jar in our pantry and my husband has eaten quite a bit from it. He has had severe abdominal pains for several days. I wonder if that could be salmonella? I am throwing that jar away tonight. Again, thanks for the heads up.

OMG, I just bought some the other day (Monday) and had it on crackers. Now I am sick. Very nauseas and running a high fever, and severe (gross, sorry) diarrhea. I force myself not to actually throw up. These are the symptoms of salmonella and they come on within 12 to 72 hours after eating the contaminated food. I will have to check out my container when I get back home (I am at my parents) to see whether the code is the same.

We have two jars here with that code. (It is our favorite brand, too.)
One jar is almost eaten, the other is full and unopened. Of course, I bought the new jar to have on hand when the other was out.
I have tried calling the 1-800 (or 866) number for over an hour. It stays busy. I wanted to verify that all we need to mail is the lids, nothing else. Is that right? We don't need a receipt do we? I don't have them anymore.
I guess I just need to mail both lids and forget about calling.

I'm amazed just from this thread on this one board how many people have jars with this code. It must be more than just one batch. Seems like all product from a certain processor over a great period of time.

That's going to be ALOT of people!!!

We have 2 jars of it too, both are almost gone. I don't eat PB very often, but I did have food poisoning a few weeks ago, we blamed it on our meal at a resturant the night before because MIL got sick too. But now wondering if we ate the peanut butter around that time. But then again, my kids and dh ate most of the PB and they were just fine.
