Peanut butter question

Dh and I were shopping when we first got married and he brought up the brilliant theory "Only girls like crunchy peanut butter."

I laughed at him as any reasonable wife would do but somehow I made it home with creamy peanut butter.
And have almost every time since then (obviously the laughing was a poor strategic decision)


SO, we had the conversation again the other day and in the interest of fairness I am posting a poll.

So lets have it Male or female and smooth or crunchy peanut butter?

We will eat either kind.

But left to our own devices, hubby and son (if he could have a shopping trip by himself, which he can't, since he's only 4) would both choose creamy.

I would choose crunchy.


And now my mind has gone to high school psychology and the Freudian stages, and why people get stuck in those stages, and how the teacher is "late oral" because he liked chewing on rib bones and pencils, and I'm seeing how even if you try to keep it scholarly a convo can sound naughty.

I prefer crunchy, my DS prefers smooth (note that I'm avoiding creamy). Ex-DH preferred smooth. My dog (a female) prefers crunchy. So far, we all (including the dog) support your theory.

PB of any kind is delicious. It is best covered in chocolate, but that wasn't an option. When eaten directly off of a spoon, crunchy is best. But, for a sandwich I prefer creamy.

In our house, I (female) always have a jar of crunchy pb, and DH always has a jar of creamy pb.

So your DH's theory is correct with us.

I'm female and enjoy both. DH prefers smooth, so that's the kind we get. I have been known to add peanuts when I have a sandwich that involves peanut butter, so I kind of get a crunchy peanut butter effect.

In all my vast years, it never occurred to me that peanut butter could be gender specific. I must have been living under a rock. I knew I should have paid more attention in Psychology class.

I will say this...for just plain PB on toast or a bagel...no chunks allowed. if you use it to make peanut butter cookies then heaven would be defined as crunchy.

I suppose I should add that I am totally bewildered by the love of anything crunchy. I see TV commercials that put so much emphasis on crunchy and chewy that one would think it was some religious experience. I love soggy cereal, telling me that it stays crunchy in milk, is another way of saying..."Don't buy me". Tell me that Taco Bell has something that is crunchy in the center and that is an invitation to go to McDonald's. The only exception is an Almond Joy bar because sometimes I just feel like a nut.
