Hello- I don't know whether to post this on Disabilities or restaurants/food forum. My first inclination was to post here b/c it's disability realted.

Here's my dilemma- DS (Aspbergers, SPD) and DD (typical with food sensory issues- lol) both LOVE Peanut butter sandwiches. JUST peanut butter, not jelly. Won't touch them with a 10 foot pole. I am worried that all PB sandwich choices at WDW are pre made such as an "Uncrustable" (which they hate- can't say I blame them- they are like a hockey puck of PB- gross).

Are there any restaurants that actually make a PB&J at WDW that we could order a PB no J at? Anyone have experience with this?

It's funny how something as small as this can have such an impact on a trip- but it can mean the difference between a meal time meltdown and two happy campers :) I have thought about just making my own and bringing them in each AM... but I am on vacation and if there are restaurants that can make one for them- all the better.

Their food "stuff" doesn't end there-lol DD only likes Kraft Mac-n-cheese (too bad missy) fortunately DS loves all mac-n-cheese (yay- lots of it at WDW). Neither like tomato sauce on their pasta- just butter- a pretty easy request at any restaurant I find IRL and at WDW (so yay- a win-win for us- lol). Both LOVE breakfast foods- yay- lots of Mickey waffles, french toast sticks, etc can be found all over at WDW- best character meals we go to are the breakfast ones b/c both my kids eat-lol. Pizza is a 100% fna favorite too- so I think if I can find some places that make PB minus J we will be set.

Help- anyone know? I am X-Post this on the restaurant board-- is that allowed?

ah the joys of peanut butter no jelly. A bazillion years ago there was no problem, they would happily make them, but that was before they had all the premade uncrustables, but I know back 16 years ago they always would make a pb no jelly for my daughter. If you find a restaurant that will still make them by scratch, they're sure to do it for you. :)

For my son, who's only 11 now and so we're talking about 5 or 6 years ago when this was a problem, what I did was I would get those "jiffy" to go packs of peanut butter and bring them into the park with me and then ask for white bread at the restaurants and make our own. :) OR I would grab a loaf of white bread and keep it in the hotel and bring the sandwich already made into the restaurant with us. OR I would 'obtain' white bread at breakfast at the toast station.... But he was also happy with the premade pb crackers.

Your list of foods sound so much like ours did! Right down to the liking of breakfast, that was always my happy meal for both of them - still is! I'm happy to report that both my kids with loads of food sensory issues have all but outgrown them...with loads and loads of patience and loads and loads of allowing them to eat PB..no jelly. :) (and ignoring all the people that said I was going to harm them by not making them EAT REAL FOOD. )

Thank you for that last paragraph! I have hope:)

My kids have the same food 'quirks'. We will be looking for these accomodations as well. :)

I would suggest that to be safe.........stop on the way into the World and get a jar of PB and bread?

If you don't have a frigerator........use the ice bucket to keep it cool?

Thank you for that last paragraph! I have hope:)

Glad it helps. My daughter isn't adventurous but will eat perfectly normal food She's in college, so she isn't one sitting eating chicken fingers every day like some of her friends. My son is truly a foodie now. If it's edible, he tries it. He even tries things which I can't stand.

I would just buy the 8 pk of little peanut butter cups that Jif sells. Our dd loves it when I pack these and pretzels in her lunch. I'd throw a couple of them in my purse or backpack, and a ziploc of 4 slices of bread and voila, you always have a backup meal in any park!!

Peanut butter can be kept at room temperature, so don't have to worry about frig.

The only restaurant I have seen bread and peanut butter was Tusker House at AK in the area of the buffet for kids.

I thought i saw on here a wise mother was in the conemporary and asked for bread for her DD. they rung it up as toast but didnt toast it. She went to the condiments and found peanut butter and made a sand for her. better then carring around bread and if was the least bit squished i know my DD9 ( on the spectrum ) wouldnt touch it at all. I would bring the peanut butter myself and ask for the bread. I am sure most places have it.ill see if i can find the posting..

Ok i found it on mousesavers site ( hope I can say that ?) it was in the section how to eat cheap in the parks.. Super Cheap Kids' Meal
Sometimes my readers' cleverness just astounds me. Consider this discovery by MouseSavers.com reader Lisa C: "In the resort food courts... you can buy two slices of bread (white or wheat) for .69 plus tax." Peanut butter is about .50, and in some food courts it's free because there are packets of it with the condiments. Jelly can be obtained for free because it's a condiment. So for around a dollar or less, you can make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Lisa notes, "We have a five-year-old, so this was a godsend and really saved us money over having to buy combo meals all the time."

No worries-You can buy a jar of peanut butter at the world!

We have seen jars of peanut butter at many resort gift shops, they also sell loaves of bread.

We have seen peanut butter/bread at BW, Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, and All Star resorts.

On our last trip, we brought PB sandwiches to the parks every day for our boys. They don't have any dietary restrictions, just don't eat enough for us to pay for a whole meal for them! We brought a jar of PB in our suitcase and got a loaf of bread delivered to our hotel from Garden Grocer. We brought sandwich-shaped "tupperware"-type containers from home (Dollar Store has some CARS themed ones right now!) and used those so the sandwiches weren't squished. It was a huge money saver and the boys loved it! It was also nice to have the food with us, in case they were ready to eat lunch before we were ready to stop.

Most CS restaurants are the Uncrustables type, and you can request a sandwich at some TS restaurants. I would agree with the previous posters to bring your own. Our DS has CP and likes it all, but our DD does not like jelly. We did Garden Grocer last time and got PB and bread and it was a life saver. Not only good for picky eaters, but for the ease of having a ready meal for a hungry tired kid while you get your CS food. No wait, and happy kids. We used the whole jar and DH had some sandwiches as snacks himself.

Forgot to add that GG has the Easy Mac type of Mac and Cheese too...just add the hot water or use a microwave.
