We are traveling to WDW in July and we are bringing DD's best friend - should be fun. She has a peanut allergy, however, and are wondering how people have found the counter service restaurants in dealing with that. We are planning on the quick service dining plan so most of our meals will be at counter service restaurants....

Would we be better off trying the regular dining plan and ensuring working with chefs at the sit-down restaurants?

Thanks for any advice!

We went last year with my SIL and her son who has a peanut allergy. I don't remember there being any problems at the CS restaurants, but he is a kid and ordering mostly kid stuff so I don't know if the adult menu would be more challenging.

My son has a peanut allergy too. We went with friends who were on the dining plan but we weren't, however we went to dinner with them a lot. Often breakfast was in the room which we brough with us. I do know at MK he ate at Cosmic Rays without a problem (they even had a binder with safe foods for every type of diet) and he ate a hotdog and McDonald's French Fries at The Village in MK. Hope that helps

I have a peanut allergy for which I carry an epi-pen, and I have never had a problem at CS or TS. The chef coming out is great, but I find I always tell them at CS about my allergy and they are wonderful.:thumbsup2

Wishing you a wonderful trip!!!!

My son has a tree nut allergy and at the foodcourts (probable some other locations as well) had a little section with peanut/treenut free snacks like caramel popcorn, brownies, jelly beans and chocolate chip cookies. The brand is specifically for people with these allergies and I felt very comfortable with that!
The most problems you will run into is with desserts so I was comforted by these labels :goodvibes
My son was even made a special dessert at Ohana since he couldn't have the bread pudding, it was about 18 inches tall on a skewer, chocalte chip cookies, brownie, cherries and ice cream!! IT was gigantic, LOL
I love Disney Dining since they are so accomadationg regarding allergies.
CS wasn;t a problem, just some desserts didn't have labels and I won't let DS eat something without a label. Lots of the icecreams said Made in a facility that processes nuts etc or actually had nuts. The iced lemonades were a big hit!
Always ask, they are trained and have that binder that states what is safe to eat!

Disney is usually very accommodating to people with any kind of allergies or special dietary needs. With that being said, TS is probably a better choice than CS because the chef will know exactly what is in each meal. The people working at the CS locations may not know, especially with baked goods. I'm sure they'll be glad to help you as best they can, but they probably won't be able to help as well as a chef.

WDW is the best place in the world to eat with an allergy! The CS restaurants are just as good as the TS restaurants when it comes to peanut allergy. You mention it when at the counter ordering. You will find it very allergy friendly in the food department for your DD's friend. Just make sure that you mention it every time you go to the counter.

I agree with the fact that TS is more accomodating, they will prepare something special for you that is usually awesome!
I wouldn't be scared away from CS though, our experience is that there is always a manager on duty that is knowledgable about the food and the allergy binders list the exact ingredients in each item. The rule of thumb is stay away from any baked goods, unfortunately even some of the bread (that is the only thing I find not consistant across WDW). You can request the Divvies brand desserts (peanut/tree nut free) but they might not always have them.
There have been times when at a CS if we can't have a dessert, we've requested french fries instead and they've always accomodated the request.

WDW is the best place ANYWHERE to accomodate food allergies!
Good luck!
