Peak Time-what would be cheaper?

We always end up going at Peak times but somehow catch the tail end or last day of Free Dining so we can get it the whole time. 2013 we will go at Prez week.

So all things being equal and we get free dining on the last day available and it is the Wed or Thurs or Friday before Prez week and we go then-
Which is cheaper (approx I know exact prices are not out yet and yes, I know there is no guarantees of Free Dining):
Value plus Dining upgrade from Free Quick Service
or
Moderate with Dining included

Any thoughts?

Much and many thanks to you!

trying one more time-just in case anyone has any thoughts- I know the 2013 package prices are not out yet and I know the free dining is never a given but just trying to wrap my head around it all.

Many thanks if you can help.

Pretty much, moderates will be more, because they have more (higher priced) booking categories and you get the regular dining plan, in lieu of quick service. It is comparing apples to oranges.

What would be a comparison that would be an interesting comparison -

moderates with regular dining plan

OR

values with quick service and you pay the difference to upgrade to regular dining plan.

That would be a more interesting comparison. Moderates may be less if you compare the highest booking category of a value paying the difference to get the regular dining plan vs. the lowest booking category of a moderate with the regular dining plan.

Thanks that is exactly what I am trying to figure out but you put it so much better than I.

During Peak time and I get the tail end of free dining for whole trip and want regular DDP not CS which would be more cost effective?

Catching Free Dining and booking a Moderate which comes with DDP
or
Catching Free Dining and booking a Value and then paying to upgrade a DDP from CS.

Depends. How many in your party?

5 in our party but we get 2 separate rooms. All of us are adults (well 2 of us are Disney adults!)

I think with 2 sep rooms it's more economical to pay the difference in dining and staying value. If you get free dining you are paying full rack rate for a room then to times that by 2 is quite $$. The upgrade in dining is a set fee so just figure out the difference in room costs for value vs mod for the time you want to go and go from there

Thanks so much- we will be going Prez week in Feb 2013 so prices should be out by August (maybe even June like last year).

Have you thought of looking into one of the suites at AoA or AsMo? That may be cheaper. Just a thought.

2 standard LM rooms at AOA is cheaper than the AoA suite just FYI. We looked into that for our upcoming April trip. I still think the best bet is 2 standard value rooms and upgrade your dining

We don't do well in the suites-3 real size older adults and 2 pre-teens. I am trying to save money as best as I can in Disney but we need some space between us. The 2 rooms are needed. We did ASMU last time in adjoining rooms but we hope to get connecting rooms this time.
I am thinking Value with the upgrade. Watch this year no free dining in Feb at all!!! Just our luck. ::sigh::
