Peak season?

We are planning a trip the end of feb/first week of March for DH's birthday. Universal's website for booking has it listed as Peak season 1. I thought for sure this would be a slow time to go, no mardi gras, spring break or Easter crowds (Easter isn't until end of March). What am I missing here? We don't want to go if it is expected to be a very busy time

Thought Mardi Gras concerts would be happening then

There are some colleges that start spring break first week in March
I know one of my sons had the first week of March off for it

Mardi gras is feb 9. Do they do concerts the whole month? We are looking at Feb 27-March 2. I thought it was far enough after mardi gras and before Easter (March 27) to be a slow time so it being labeled as peak shocked me. Where would I find park schedules showing special events?
This is a pretty last minute trip, so don't have it in the budget to stay at a deluxe, especially at peak rates. I was comparing offsite costs vs CB, but if the crowds are heavy I'm worried about not having the express pass.

Look at the express pass pricing on Universal Orlando website. If they are expensive , they are expecting crowds ( express pass pricing goes higher the higher the crowds go)

Thanks everyone! I had no idea they celebrated mardi gras all month long there or that they close attractions in the park during the parades. DH had some changes in his work schedule so we are now going Feb 2-6. Since it is now a value season, we were able to get a room at portifino bay for a really good price through Orbitz. The mardi gras concerts start the night we leave so there will be no interference from that.
