First it was Warner Bros. Discovery eyeing Paramount Plus. Next it was Byron Allen. Now news comes that Comcast, the owner of Peacock, may be entertaining a merger with the beleaguered Paramount. Everyone seems to be kicking the tires on the storied entertainment business.

In Comcast’s case it may make sense. Both Paramount Plus and Peacock have been working hard to court subscribers in order to further solidify their respective statuses as lasting players in the streaming space. According to a new report, the platforms’ parent companies could be considering a unique partnership.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Comcast and Paramount have been in recent talks about a potential streaming partnership that could see Paramount Plus and Peacock being offered to subscribers together as a package deal. Along with making access to the two platforms comparatively cheaper than buying separate subscriptions, the partnership would help Comcast and Paramount “produce significant cost savings — from spending on programming to marketing.”

Word of these recent talks comes in the wake of Disney / ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. announcing last week that they’re working together to create a new shared service focused on sports — a sign that more studios and networks are beginning to get very serious about collaborating to survive the streaming wars.

No doubt we will see more and more of this. Showtime and Paramount Plus are already merged, so add peacock to the mix I guess.

Disney\Hulu are pretty much merged, and will be more so in the future once its all sorted.

There are just too many streaming services with too little content that is worth paying for, IMO.
I like Hulu, mostly because I don't have a live TV service.

I have Disney+, Peacock, Prime and Paramount, but I don't actually pay for them and would not pay for them.
Even Netflix really has nothing I want, I know many like it.

In then end it does not matter how many of these services you combine, if the content is unwatchable, especially if the price is too high.
I think the recent Disney Plus numbers show that people wont pay too much for A SUBPAR product, and they cant blame the numbers on Cricket this time.

Im okay with this as long as it doesn’t jack-up the cost of Peacock. I’d actually like Paramount because currently I don’t have access to CBS shows and won’t pay for another subscription.

I have the free version of Peacock. And to be honest, that is what the service is worth to me. I have the Disney+/Hulu $9.99 a month bundle also, and other than Only Murders in the Building, I find I am watching it not for the content, but because I need to justify spending the $10 a month.
We have had and dropped Netflix and YouTube TV.

The only reason I have Peacock is for the IndyCar coverage. And for that, I paid $19.99/year. I have no other streaming services due to it being so convoluted.

I pay for it and it is worth it to me. I have 8-10 shows I watch on Peacock.Same for Hulu. For those of us who do not have cable this is how we watch TV. If you have cable then yes, Peacock, Hulu, Paramount, etc are probably not worth it.

Or an antenna. Every time I rescan my TV I am amazed at how many channels are out there now with the subchannels on free TV. The dot 1, dot 2, dot 3, dot 4 channels. And throw in the 350 free channels that Samsung throws in for free on their Samsung TV Plus you can watch Baywatch, Bob Ross, The New Detectives, 21 Jump Street, Degrassi, Divorce Court, Dateline, The Price is Right non-stop or sitcoms on the TV Land sitcom channel.

Nope. OTA antenna doesn’t work where I am. I hooked it up for the Super Bowl and was shocked that it came up all. It cut in and out. It was better than nothing but I missed a lot. I tired a few days later and no reception at all.

Sometime, if you can, try moving the antenna around. Digital TV is very sensitive and even moving the antenna a foot or two can make all the difference in the world. Not like analog was where you could get a snowy picture, if digital doesn't get 100% signal strength is just shuts down.

This has been an issue in my area since way before digital. But you are right. Moving helps a little but not enough to make it watchable.

This is what my TV looked like during parts of the super bowl

We got a really cheap deal on a Peacock sub, but it's pretty disappointing. I hardly ever find anything I want to watch on Peacock. I don't have Paramount+ but I see promos for shows that look pretty good to me. I'd love to see a merger, but if the price goes up too much, I'd cancel.

I put a new roof on my house 10 years ago. Biggest mistake I made was letting the roofer talk me into not putting my 20 outdoor antenna back up, I regretted it within about 60 seconds and went out to tell him and it was already crumped up in the dumpster.

Are you speaking of the loss of 1.3M D+ subscribers last quarter?
If so, I don't think Disney is too worried about it - they raised prices 30% and lost less than 1% of their subs. i think any streamer would take that deal.

The bolded is not true. The advantage of digital is if you get ENOUGH signal, the picture will be perfect. However, if you don't get enough signal, you get nothing. Digital is like a light switch, you either get all the light or none. Analog is like a dimmer where you can sometimes get enough light. In fact, you don't want 100% signal strength. Too much signal can overload the tuner.

@disneychrista, I suggest using antennaweb.org. Put in your address and it should tell you what type of antenna you need. You might need an outdoor antenna. Based on your image, you're getting SOME signal, just not enough.

I think we are saying the same thing.
