Waldo's friend who refuses to train outside got his yesterday.... Group NINE He's going to die! (Not literally, but he may wish he were....) I figure Group 9 is probably a 9:30 start. It's going to be HOT.

I am not home this week so I don't have mine yet.

Anyone else got their number/group?

DH and I got our packets. I was happy to see we both got group two, but unfortunately it is two weeks after my surgery so I won't be able to go.

Group nine is gonna be HOT.

Shan - Join me in the "bummed I won't be running at all group." Some how, with this latest heat wave, sitting at home doesn't seem so awful. I hope all goes well with your surgery. Let us know.

Just out of curiosity for next year...
DH ran a 49:41 10K in May. Where would that place him? Group one is split up, correct?

Would this still be good to use as far as dates go?

And where can I find out if this is a certified race?

I know he has awhile to run another race, but so far this is his fastest 10K.

Len,
It's definitely a Group 1 time and you can use the time for up to two years. I am not sure if it's 1A or 1B, but still a great start.

(And as for your number... while I know it's against the rules, there is a market out there. Especially for a group 2. There were people at my run this morning plotting LOL!)

I got mine in yesterday! I am in group 1A.

I'm with ya' buddy Group 1A for me as well (number in the 11,000 range)

Two years?!? Awesome! That means I can use my same time again to send in next year? I really want to be in group two again next year. I'm afraid I might be slower for awhile after my surgery and was a tad worried about getting a decent time to send in...

What determines group two and three? If I send in the same time next year will I most likely be put in group two again?

Any time will get you in either Group 2 or 3. I have never been able to find the cut off (if there is one) between 2 and 3.

So what kinda awesome time did you guys submit to get put in 1A?

I am in group 5.

The first time I got in time group 1A I submitted a 47:23. This time I submitted 49:31. Slowing with age and also lack of training. I still would like to get in really good shape and make a run at breaking 45:00 but we'll see.

DH got his packet the other day - number 1603 - I think that's sub-seeded, but not sure exactly...

He got in that group by running a 1:21 half. He's shooting for a sub 36 minute race.
