Peace lilies...know anything about them???

Hubbys grandmother who was 95 passed away this week. After, the funeral family went back and picked up the flowers and plants that were sent. Hubby picked up a huge peace lilly, this thing is HUGE! I have no idea how to take care of it. It's in a nice planter and sits about 3 1/2 feet tall. How often do you water them? Do they need sunlight? Plant food? Are they toxic to animals??? Is it an indoor plant, or do I need to plant it outside? It is very beautiful, just I am not very good with plants.
I'd really hate to kill this plant. I am not a green thumb at all.

But just basically take care of it like you would any other green plant. Water it when the soil is dry to the touch (overwatering is just as bad as underwatering). Keep it inside. Plant food isn't a necessity. We don't use any at the shop. Partial sunlight is fine.

Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum) will do well in moderate light, and they can tolerate lower light if you don't water them too much. Keep them moist but not wet. They do not like dry conditions, and will
"wilt" if they get to dry. Also the leaves will turn yellow. The chlorine in your water will accumulate in the edges of the leaves and turn them brown. You can just trim this off. Or you can set your water out overnight to let the chlorine evaporate. I water mine (I have 6) once a week. I don't know where you live, but they will not survive cold weather. Mine are all indoor plants.
They are toxic to cats.

I am terrible with house plants but peace lillies are the only plant I can keep.

They are very hardy - I forget to water and they droop, Water them and they come right back. I have had one for over 10 years.
