DH will be deciding this week whether he is attending a trade show at the convention center. There are several hotels available, and the Peabody is one of them. Its location is really good in that you could walk to the trade show and not have to rely on the shuttles, but it is also $80 a night more than the other hotels. Just wondering if it is THAT much better? I had been leaning toward Homewood Suites which has rave reviews on tripadvisor. Thanks for any opinions!!!

the Peabody is a 4 star hotel - that is what you paying extra for - not how close it is.

homewood suites are suites.

if you are going to have transportation - car - shuttle then homewood suites are fine.

if not I would go with the Peabody.

this is a high traffic area.

I tend to agree with spiceycat, the Peabody will be a very nice hotel room . I would rather have a suite. Also, the I-Ride Trolley provides transportation up and down International Drive if you should need it.

The Peabody is a legendary hotel. We love the original Peabody in Memphis. We spent part of our honeymoon at the Peabody Memphis before leaving the country. Try the Peabody. You will love it. Trust me, it is worth the extra money (or at least the one in Memphis is).

The Peabody is SO VERY WORTH IT!

It's a LOVELY hotel, very well kept, exceptional guest rooms and public areas, and you will love the convenience of walking to the CC while others pack into buses and trolley's.

Thanks a bunch for the info!! I know I-drive is busy. Will it be difficult to drive to Disney? I will be me and DS in the rental car while DH is at the trade show. :earsboy:

just be patience and you will be fine.

sometimes the shorter route to Disney is ID - but most of the time it is I4.

You are much closer to US/IOA - so you might consider these theme parks instead of Disney.

Especially if your son is a pre-teen or teen.

okay other than Dr Suess land - IOA is a little to old and adventurous for him... :rotfl:

in a few years though

If your interested... I used priceline and got the Peabody for 75.00 a night. Pretty darn good price I believe.

Peabody is super close to US/IOA. It was like a $5-6 cabride. Dfi and I didn't drive...

It is sorta far from disney MK being the farthest...it was a good 30 minute ride...But I adored the peabody, such a comfortable Bed!! So many nights we came in and as soon as we hit the bed we were in dreamland, the beds are out of this world!

If I had a car staying @ the peabody would have been better for me. I would stay there again in a heartbeat...The pools are nice, and the fitness center is pretty good too...did I mention the beds? :rotfl:

I also got The peabody on priceline, 80/night...

We stayed there in September and it was the best hotel we've ever stayed in!

It's in a great location and the facilities and staff are wonderful.

It really is worth the money.

If you stay there, try the restaurants, the food is the best in Orlando!

I also just came back from a stay at the Peabody. It is such a great hotel! We got it on Priceline for $75. Plug in 4* in the Universal area, it's the only one that Priceline deals with that I know of, so unless they change something, you've got a better than average chance of getting it. Be aware, that they do charge an $8 resort fee. This surprised me and I was a bit PO'd but when I slept in the bed and remembered how much I paid for the room, I quickly forgot about it. The pool is terrific and best of all, the 24-hour diner is fanastic (particularly the eggs benedict and fruit tart). They were featured recently on FoodTV and boy, did they deserve it! There was also a terrific guy at the concierge desk that showed us backroads to Downtown Disney. I couldn't believe how close it was!

Anyway, stay at the Peabody (but I highly recommend Priceline). You'll not regret it!

The staff there are fantastic, one person at concierge actually spent an entire afternoon looking for Star Wars memorabelia for my dbf.

We were never charged the room fee, though. You can also choose to opt out of it if you want.
