Hi,
I would not normally do this but I guess I just need to share in hopes of facing this situation in a positive manner. My younger sister, aged 31 had been diagnosed with a very rare kidney disease. Many years ago she was told she would have kidney failure and eventually need dialysis and a new kidney. Well, the time has come. Tuesday she will go to the Dr.'s to see if her steroid therapy is helping to control her levels. If not, she will need to be put on dialysis. She is a loving mom of 2 great kids and a great wife to a deadbeat hubby, and a great little sis!! I am very worried about her and have offered a kidney. I will have to be tested to see if she can use mine...but she will eventually need another as this disease can not be cured and targets kidneys. Another sister has also offered hers. Hopefully we will all match. My mom has no idea about how sick my sister is...it is just better that way, and she is going to freak when she finds out we will all share our kidneys. (I guess she is to blame since she taught us all to share so well!!!!) I do have one stipulation about my kidney though.....she must take it to Disney...frequently. I mean, after all I have taken it there every year for the past five years!!!! I live in Indiana, she lives in Florida. There is no excuse for not taking it for a yearly visit....right? (She is not a Disney fan....go figure!) Anyway happy thoughts and pixie dust is what my family is in need of right now. I appreciate all the PD I get for my sis!!! Thanks for letting me vent!!!! Oh, I am also going for an interview on Tuesday as well and could use some good thoughts!!!!! Thanks again for listening!!!!
Liz

Im gonna pray, how long would a new kidney last her

LOL! It's good to see you have a sense of humor during a very difficult time...you're a gem. ;) Prayers and PD for your sister AND your interview. A friend of mine gave her kidney to her brother. Both are doing great! ;) You've got an amazing heart to do this.

You sure do have some stressful stuff to deal with but you're definitely handling it well. PD for your sister and your whole family. And good luck with that interview too.

I just wrote my sister a little letter entitled 10 reasons why you don't want my kidney:

10. I get up to pee in the middle of the night...every night
9. I pee 75 times a day.(at least)
8. My kidney is allergic to dust.
7. My kidneu is allergic to dust mites.
6. My kideny HATES onions.
5. My kindney has freckles.
4. My kidney is fat.
3. My kidney HATES the beach.
2. My kidney is not fond of children
and the number one reason you do not want my kidney.....
1. You must take my kidney to Disney....frequently.....(she hates Disney!!!)
I hope that makes her smile...I made myself laugh for a while too!!!

Thanks again,
Liz

HUGS and pixie dust to your family, I hope n pray things work out for you all.

Good Thoughts & **~~PD~~** are on their way!

Loads of pixie dust to you all! Hopefully you or your other sister will be a perfect match. I love the Disney stipulation. :D Thats great!

I recently posted here that my cousins had been in the Enquirer. Both of my cousins(sisters) had a kidney disease and each recieved a kidney from one of their half siblings. They are both now living normal healthy lives. Miracles do happen, and I hope one happens for your family too. :D

PD and best wishes for you and your family. Good luck with your job interview.

They are much appreciated. It is unbleivable to me how many "Friends" I have made on this board, and how thoughful people really are. Thank you again. You have all put a smile on my face.

Liz

Liz, my prayers are with your sister and all of you. You and your other sister sound like such loving family and your sister is lucky to have you {{hugs}} to you all.

Prayers and pixie dust on the way! Praying also that all of the kidneys will be a perfect match!!!!

Maybe some of your Disney love will start flowing through her veins too. ;)
