Our area does not have DSL and our cable is TOO expensive. Anybody use a PC card for internet access???? AT&T offers it in a package, but not sure if we would like that type of internet access. What are the pros and cons?

Look into using your phone as a modem for internet. Get an unlimited internet place before you do it.

AT&T and other mobile broadband plans have really strict download/usage limits. I think with AT&T is $60 for 10 GBs of usage a month. That is a big downside to PC cards. Also you have to live two bar cell reception area in order for PC card to work.

Check the fine print on an "unlimited" plan and you will see there is a cap. I believe most are in the 5GB range. The TOS also specify services that you can not use which could limit you. 5GB may sound like a lot until you have to patch your OS, download some software, or stream Hulu or Netflix. The speeds are also usually well below even a streamlined DSL. I would call your cable provider. Some offer slower cable connections than they advertise.
