I noticed last week that during my family's three days in Orlando Wed 9/29 - Sat 10/2 there were hardly any rooms available at the Portofino, just Garden views Kings and some suites, so I quickly booked the two rooms we'll need for our family, settling for garden views, thinking perhaps they were adding inventory and I could switch to a bay view later on, or if the rates drop.

So I checked again a few times this week and now the site shows NO rooms available at the PBR at all! PBR Reservations desk confirmed they're "fully committed" for these dates and recommend to keep on trying for a bay view as there may be cancellations.

Though I'm elated that I made the reservations for the garden views so we'll certainly be staying at our favourite Uni resort, I'm kind of disappointed that our travelling partners wouldn't be able to enjoy the added magic of a gorgeous view over the bay during their first time on-site.

I was curious whether it is really possible that the Portofino is fully booked a full 9 months in advance; is there a special event going on that I'm not aware of? I checked some orlando event and conference calendars (learned that from my Vegas holiday planning....) and don't see anything special at all. I was thinking it may be HHN related (could be the first weekend) or Harry Potter mania's first casualty, but it's only the PBR which seems full, RPR and HRH have plenty of rooms left.

Would appreciate if anybody knows if they've had a similar issue with booking this far out for PBR - can it really be fully booked, or are they not opening up all room inventory yet and did the reservation desk give me a, well, not-entirely-correct explanation?

:thanks: Unicorn :thanks:

i booked my room for october 2 months back.

when i tried to book pbh, it was full at that time.
so i booked at rph instead.

i called and was told due to a couple of conventions, no rooms left at pbh.

last month, i rechecked and found rooms were available now for october.

i kept my ressie for rph instead of changing hotels.

readers digest version:
rooms are released to the public all the time.
some conventions do not need the blocks of rooms originally requested or a travel agency does not sell out the block of rooms they have reserved.

when that happens, the rooms are released again for booking.
