PBH room help

We (dh and 2 dd ages 16 and 20) will be at PBH Jan 2-7,2008. We have a confirmed upgrade to a Portofino Suite for our first 3 nights and should have no problem with the last 2 nights when the rates come in. Just wondering what the suites are like. Do they have balconies? Is there a specific room or wing better than others? I would love a balcony if that is possible.

I must have called everyday for a week and half just to get a reservation. Most told me either the hotel was sold out or that since the rates were unavailable past Jan 5th they couldn't book my dates. Eventually I came across some wonderful help.

I was also told they didn't know when the AAA rates would be in. Does anyone know when those are usually released?

AAA rates should be released the end of Aug/sometime in Sept.

The west wing is supposed to be the best in PBH. I haven't stayed there, so I'm not much help. I don't think many rooms have balconies tho (only 9% maybe?).

Have you read the sticky about PBH at the top? It's loaded with info. And..if you go to UO website, click on hotels, and then PB, click "accomodations" and you can see a floorplan of the rooms.

I think it's about 20%, but there is a "date & rate" thread *stuck* at the top of the hotel boards....if you look there, you can find a time close to when you are going and see the other rates other DISer's have gotten
