PBH Club Upgrade Question

Getting ready for our anniversary trip the end of the month. I want to make sure I understand the possibility to request a club upgrade. At check in, I can request to add the club amenities to our reservation for whatever price quote is given to us by the front desk (assuming it is available). If we opt to pay for it, we would have access to the club amenities from our garden view room, correct? In other words, upgrading at checking is for club amenities only, not for club level rooms which I believe are deluxe. The club rooms are sold out for one of the nights we will be there, otherwise, I would try to upgrade to club before we go. In fact, does anyone know if anything is taking place on May 31st because RPR and HRH are sold out and limited rooms are available at PBR.

This is just my opinion but we have stayed at PB numerous times and actually like the standard room better than the deluxe room. The bedroom is the same size in both- the bathroom is different. Both bathrooms are huge. The deluxe has the seperate shower apart from the tub. The standard has tub/shower together with a shelfing area where the shower would be. We prefer the extra space of the shelf. Also the deluxe room has the open window from the tub to the bedroom. I prefer the room without the opening - more privacy.
We had a standard room in the east wing with a HUGE balcony on the top floor- we loved it! I actually liked it better than the portofino suite. I will try and find the room number. I would wait and ask about club being added on to your room after arrival. We have always done this- even during Thanksgiving week and it has always been available. Sometimes we have been comped it and sometimes we paid 50.00- never more.
I would mention the anniversary also- maybe they will add club on. We have had cake sent one time and strawberries and champagne one time so you never know- can't hurt to try!
Not sure what is happening the 31st?

Hope you have a wonderful time!!

Thank you for your detailed response! We did note that we are celebrating our anniversary. Your response confirmed my understanding that in order to request an upgrade to the Club amenities only at check-in, a Club level room does not need to be available. We are willing to pay for Club level but the room was not available for the 31st. I'm glad we may still be able to have access to the amenities. The standards rooms sound great to me. It will only be two of us this trip so I am not sure what to do with all of the extra space!
Thanks Again!

You are correct- we have added club on to standard rooms before. I went back and checked and the room was 1544. The room next door also had a huge balcony- it was 1542. They were very close to the elevator also. The smaller the number the closer to the elevator. There were some rooms further down the hall- in the 1570s that had balconies also but were a good walk down the hall. My husband said the balcony was about 10' x 12'- very nice with a beautiful view. We sat out at night and listened to the opera singers. Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Can I ask what the club up-grade gets you?

Thanks

It gets you access to the club lounge.

There are 5 different food offerings during the day, starting with a continental breakfast, a small fruit display midmorning, gelato mid afternoon, appetizers early evening (both hot and cold) with wine and beer, and then dessert in the late evening.

There is always soda, water, coffee, tea and hot chocolate available throughout the day.

There are two computers with printers that you can get on and check e-mail, disboards, etc.

There is a staff that is there to help you with your stay. Back in November, our son came down with strep. When we asked for directions to the closest urgent care to get some antibiotics, they went one step beyond, called for us to let them know we were coming, gave us a map, etc. The staff remembered the next day and asked us how our son was doing. Very attentive and very, very good service.

Goofy! is right(as usual!):goodvibes
During one trip our special needs child lost his spacer and we had to find a special needs dentist. They were great finding one close by for us. The next night a staff member fixed a tray of cookies and milk and brought it to our room for our son. They are incredibly nice and go above and beyond to help you!

What should I expect the price of admission to be? And is best to ask when we check in? June 25th - 30th

Thanks

We just returned from PBH and had a standard room booked. It was an APH rate so my Loews Gold card could not be used. I asked to be placed in the West Wing and we were assigned a beautiful Bay view room. We advised we wanted to pay for an upgrade to Club and it was $75 per night. Even for just the two of us, we felt it was $75 well spent. We must have drank at least 10 bottles of the water per day! We enjoyed the wine and beer in the late afternoon and we ate breakfast in the club everyday. Club reakfasts always work for us as we are not a big breakfast family. By the end of our stay, we realized we wanted to change our July 4th ressies from RPR to PBH so I called Universal reservations while still at the resort. I was able to get a AAA discount which allowed me to use my Loews Gold card to upgrade from a standard room to a deluxe. I then checked with the front desk to verify that I could add on Club when I arrive, being concerned it was a busy July 4th time period. I was told that anyone can always upgrade to club at check in for $75. I was still concerned and said what if the resort is sold out July 4th week and I was told that didn't matter. The front desk team member could tell I was still concerned so he looked up the ressie I just made by phone that morning and noted in my ressie that I was upgrading to club at check-in. I recall reading on these boards that club is not always available at check in. I would have booked club directly but I would have lost my Gold Card benefits and club level would have cost an extra $80 a day instead of the way I am doing it. I hope this made sense?
