I read through all the information on the PBH thread and I am still confused. Are all club level room deluxe rooms or are they a mix of deluxe and standard? -I believe they are all deluxe rooms from whatI am reading..Correct me if I am worng. Where is the best location to be for a Deluxe club level room? the maps I have seen are confusing and I have no idea what is where( my original plans had me booked at RPr so I never even looked at PBH).I am not incredibly picky about views, but would prefer not to be looking at dumpsters or a parking lot..LOL...probably a nonissue at PBH..I guess I would prefer to be close to the lounge.IS that a bad location?

They are supposed to be deluxe rooms in the villa or west wing if you book a club room. Any room that we've had in those two areas have been beautiful.

i think the op should call to find out if they have a standard room or will get the queen deluxe on the club level.

it is the best way to know for sure in advance and then the op won't be worried on the room situation.

it's always more peaceful to know in advance.

pbh can put you in a standard room with club benefits in some cases.
not all the club rooms are on the same floor as the club lounge.

That is true if you are comped club or purchase it with your room as an extra. If you are actually paying for it, you'll get the deluxe. I would check my email to see what it says and if you don't have an email confirmation, as you might not in this special case, then definitely call and check your reservation. There isn't a club level at PHB as the club lounge is just beside the lobby. You can be on any floor and still have club access but it is a real hike if you are in the east wing.

The differences between the deluxe and the standard aren't very noticeable. The deluxe has a separate shower and some real wood moulding instead of a paper border.

Personally, I'd just call and ask to be put in the villa or west wing.

Here is what the website says about club rooms if you make your reservation for a club room:

Club 2 Queen Room
Upgrade to one of the Club Level rooms and enjoy access to the Portofino's Club Lounge including complimentary continental breakfast, evening beer and wine and additional privileges including complimentary admission to the fitness center at Mandara Spa. Deluxe Room accommodations offer 490 square feet of living space with two queen beds, plus a stylish and roomy bathroom featuring a separate tub and shower. Additional room amenities include cordless phone, evening turndown service, and cotton signature bathrobes. Additional Portofino Club Lounge amenities include personal concierge services, complimentary coffee, tea, and soft drinks throughout the day, both morning and afternoon breaks, hot & cold hors d'oeuvres each evening and “something sweet" each night. Lounge open daily 7a -10p.

That's what mine says and she confirmed with me and the mgr that since it was booked as club it is a deluxe room( 490 sq ft).I will definitely call to request west wing or villa wing. The only request I have right now is a NON -pet room since I had heard that at PBH pets are not as confined to certain areas as they are in the other hotels..Not sure if that was true or not, but I am not taking any chances with that

In our recent experiences at PBH (August and earlier this month), they have outright refused our request to be in the west wing (which is where we have been able to stay during previous club level stays). We have been told that club level guests must stay in the villas section -- building 2.

This is severely limiting the availability of rooms with bay views and/or balconies as well as the opportunities for upgrades for club level guests.

They told me the reason for the new rule is that they want club level guests to have the feeling of staying in something of a private club house, which is why they are confining club level guests to building 2.

I am guessing, although I have not been told this, that the real reason is they were having some difficulty controlling access to the club level lounge when club level guests were coming from all areas of the hotel. With all club level guests confined to building 2, I suspect they think it cuts down on the temptation of guests staying in other buildings to follow club level guests on their way to the lounge and walk in with them. But, this is only my guess.

Due to the rule that club level guests must be in building 2, we have considered not booking club level going forward. But, we enjoy the lounge offerings, which are quite nice (except the desserts later in the evening which are skimpy).

We are not sure what we will do going forward.

You have to have a key to get into the lounge, so I'm not sure how people who don't have access can get in. If staff is so concerned about people sneaking in behind others, all they have to do is ask to see everyone's room key. I think they may have gotten complaints about people not being able to find their way to the club lounge from the villa rooms. It is quite confusing the first few times and it can be quite a hike. I can understand them wanting to keep people closer. Since they charge extra for bay rooms, it may be that they don't want to be giving the west wing bay view rooms away with club level.

Good to know..Thanks...What views are from the villas wing?

You can have bay, pool or garden view.

now i'm confused - we have stayed in the west wing numerous times with

club added on.

Perhaps that is the secreat -- book the regular room, get a room assigned in the West Wing -- and then add club level!
