Payphones at Castaway Cay?

Are there payphones at Castaway Cay? We just found out a loved one will be having surgery the day we're in Castaway Cay and I'm trying to find the cheapest way to be in touch... TIA

I've never seen any pay phones at Castaway (remember that it is in the Bahamas and owned by DCL)...but call DCL to be sure. The only way I know to call home is the ship-to-shore deal at about $7 per minute. e-mail would be cheaper if you wanted to arrange that (75 cents per minute on the ship or $89 for a 7 day cruise.)

Castaway is generally the last day of the cruise. Could you arrange for them to call you only in an emergency, and you'd call from the port the next morning "just to check in?" Your cell will work at the port from about 5 am.

Satellite phone rentals are also an option. They're $39.99/week and $1.59/minute. They're perfect if you need to keep in touch. Iridium is best while at Castaway Cay, as Globalstar's coverage in the northern sections of the Bahamas can be spotty.
