Paypal payment question

A friend bought some pins for me and I went to pay them by Paypal direct from my checking account. (I received the pins by mail on Wednesday.)
The only option like this available is by an E-Check.
Several months ago I either was paid or paid someone by e-check and it took 4 - 5 days to clear, just as a regular check.
Is an e-check the only way to pay through bank account funds now?
When paying by bank account, the person use to get the funds right away. Now it appears they have to wait.

You have to have a balance in your PayPal account to be able to pay immediately and not by e-check. You can do a bank transfer that takes a few days and then the money will be there when you want it right away. Unless you have your account linked to a credit card and then the money is sent right away too. HTH

If you have your ATM/Debit/Check Card linked to PayPal as your credit card the funds go through right away. The seller will see that you've paid with the e-check, but won't have access to the funds until it "clears".
