just wondering if anyone else got this"update" email

I get hose all the time and also from Ebay. It is a scam...just trash the email.
Do not click on the link and enter your info.

Hi yes i got one too i also sent it to spoof email at paypal i had a reply from paypal too but i new they wouldn't ask for your details we have to be careful there are so many going around

sorry I posted too soon! paypal emailed me back and it IS A SCAM!
just another one to watch out for!

I also get those all the time.. through ebay, or paypal, or even from banks that I have never belonged to. I never respond to anything asking me to update my account of verify anything. :earsboy:

Most of us have gotten those and it is a scam. I wonder what ebay and PayPal do with the e-mails we send to them? Are the scammers prosecuted?

I get these all the time. Probably 10 in the last 30 days. First, always be skeptical of any email that asks for your login or password to anything. Never use the links in an email. Go direct to the site. For example paypal. Open your browser, go to www.paypal.com, login to your account and IF paypal really wanted info from you there will be a message there. Same with Ebay.

I won't even click on links for payment in the emails sent when you win an ebay auction. I close the email. Open my brower, go to ebay, login to my account and go to the "My Ebay" page and pay my winning auctions from there.

One immediate clue that these are scams:

They NEVER address you by name. They'll always say "Dear eBay user" or something like that.

The real emails from paypal and eBay always say, "Dear John Doe" (or whatever your name is...)

I always report any emails rec'd by ebay and paypal and then I delete them. You can always log on to paypal or ebay and check your acct there for any legitimate problems.
