Payment Question

So, I had my contracts signed sealed and delivered back in April. I was originally going to do a loan but then decided to pay cash. The contracts were re-resent and my wife and I signed them and sent them in. However, we still have not paid. I was going to pay on a credit card. I have had no problem making reservations with my points.

Now, almost two months later, my wife and I are in a bad spot and it looks like we might be heading for divorce. Since I haven't actually sent in any money, can I get out of the deal? It is just one less thing we would have to deal with. What happens if I just don't pay??

I would call Disney and find out. I could guess for you but I might guess wrong. :goodvibes

Did you have a closing date set? I can't imagine that they closed the contract without any money.

I have no idea. All I did was send the paperwork back signed. I THINK I recieved a letter saying everything was executed. But I would have to go back and check my records.

Just to follow up, the answer was yes, I could get out of the contract since I had not paid yet, however, I would have lost my deposit. So I decided to keep the DVC. My wife and I are indeed getting divorced and she decided she did not want the DVC and that I could have it in the settlement.

So, I called my guide and she arranged to have them simply resend all the paperwork with everything now in my name which I thought was way cool they did that for me. Since my contract number changed, I was able to move around and cancel one of my ressies (which I had borrowed points for) and get all my points recredited to my account as if they were never borrowed. She also moved my use year to August which gives me more time to use the points and delays when I have to start paying my dues.

Anyway, I thought I would share for anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation...
